Base rate to rise in 2013?

Is the base rate variable? I thought that was how it used to work but is now fixed at an entirely reasonable and normal level? The meeting each month was to talk about old times and to decide on the how big the majority would be to keep things the same?0

They have realised everyone likes cheap money, funny that. Why'd it take so long :jPhew! Thank goodness we have no vested interests exerting influence in the U.K. then.
USA <> UK vested, any waves from across the Atlantic will land here pretty sure. Funny all we hear is Europe problems but I think its USA which will influence us

Lobbying in the USA is an art. You don't become President of the USA without a billion dollars (£625 million) in funding. Total spending by all political parties in the UK's 2010 elections was £31 million.
Gun lobby's answer to shooting inside schools. Put armed guards inside. That shows a different mentality.0 -
I wonder if the bit coin will ever become the worlds reserve currency, it seems like a pretty good solution. We shouldn't ever allow one nations currency to become the reserve currency otherwise you get into the stupid position of allowing that nation spend like idiot, which causes a meltdown, which creates a rush to the currency of the idiotic currency and supports more idiocy. We need a fractional reserve system, that's quite clever but it needs to be in
neutral hands.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -

In an ideal world yes, but the mess the economy is in is anything but ideal.
There will be no recovery by the end of this decade, but inflation pressure will force interest rates up regardless of the mess the ecconomy is in long before the end of this decade. Could well be 2013 if the BOE carries on adding billions of £s to the currency supply.0
