Peugeot 206 - wing mirror question

If you have a Peugeot 206, please let me know if it's possible for your wing mirrors to fold in when parked to avoid them being knocked off.
My Sister has recently purchased a Peugeot 206, 2001 reg - Petrol. She's owned it for two months , parks it on the road and twice had the wing mirror knocked off.
I have repaired it once using gaffa tape and replacement glass and it the other mirror has evidently been repaired before she owned it using a similar method.
With gaffa tape there's no chance of them folding in. If they were not repaired with gaffa tape, should they be able to fold in, so as to avoid them being knocked off yet again?
If so, I will probably buy a replacement part so she can fold it in when parking in future.
Thanks for the help.

I had a 2002 206 LX and the wing mirrors didn't fold in. I don't know (can't remember!) whether it was available as standard/optional on higher spec models, though.

Wont they fold in manually?0

I once owned a 206 GTI and the mirrors did fold in, I think that was 2001. If they don't fold in by default on that model you could still get fold-in versions and fit them.0

Yes they do fold in. But they are probably stiff if they have not been folded in for a while.
Way to do it is push down a slightly and push back towards the door. Watch you don't damage them as like I say, they will probably be stiff.
EDIT: This won't work if they are gaffa taped up.
Plenty of complete mirrors for the 206 cheap on eBay. No need to pay Peugeot for brand new ones.0 -
Thanks LeeUK. I will talk to my sister about getting a replacement one (eg no duct tape).
Thanks for the advice!0 -

The answer is to reverse parallel park and leave the road wheels on maximum lock pointing away from the kerb.
This has two effects:
1) makes approaching drivers think someone is in the car and attempting to leave the parking spot, thus slowing down and giving more room.
2) makes approaching drivers give enough room to avoid hitting your wheel/tyre, WHICH would do far more damage to their car, than your wing mirror.
You'd be surprised how well this works........
And as an added bonus, if your handbrake ever jumps, your car won't roll forwards into the car in front.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
