I'm on the hunt for nice wrapping paper and am finding it tougher than expected lol... I do have a couple of rolls from the sales last year, but I am not that keen on it - bought it as a back up / stocking filler style paper.
Last year, I found some lovely high quality paper that was black with silver baubles. It dressed up quite nicely with silver ribbon and little chocolate coins. But, I cannot find anything like it this time around. I've searched the collections at M&S, BHS, Hallmark, the supermarkets etc etc.
The other type of paper I used last year was kraft paper with a santa pattern - similar to the black paper, there doesn't seem to be so many kraft paper options either.
Not the best image, but you can see the black and silver paper:
Have you started thinking about paper yet? Have you found any you particularly like?0 -
Morning
FLOWFY I love that film that is one of my favourites too! You are so organised with your freezer cooking i am way behind, but like you say we are our own worst enemys, and what is going to happen if we dont get everything done, nothing really :rotfl:we put far too much pressure on ourselves to have the perfect christmas

Just popping on quickly as still catching up. Lovely to see so many Christmas preps going well.
I have a ticket for Living North Christmas Fair at York Racecourse 15th - 17th November if anyone is thinking of going. PM me and I'll pop it in the post.

Flowfy and Nanamia Thankyou! So exciting I never even thought it might be possible to make syrups at home... feel rather silly now
Cherry24 extra gifts is always my approach, I'd rather be left with some, than have someone I've not bought for. Especially things like drinks/biscuits/sweeties/bath stuff... such a chore having to use them myself
aliaslotte nope I've not found hardly any paper I really like yet. The few bits I have found is cartoony stuff which I only like because there are owls on it...Love owls
... but the cartoony nature means its gone up to be Santa's paper. We have quite a few bits and pieces from last couple of years though hope to get through some of that this year. I usually find one or two patterns I absolutely love in Tescos though so looking forward to having a looksie in there
. Not usually very Christmassy though just pretty if that makes sense.
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -

yes freespirit66 - Christmas doesn't just 'happen'. mums spend hours and hours making food, buying surprises and decorating the house to make it 'happen'
I am making all the stuff I have bought everything for like the chocolate candy cane sleigh thingys etc. but lots of other stuff I will put away and make next year.
the gingerbread syrup turned out gorgeous, although I would use a little less water next time so it is thicker.0 -
Still not well, but back at work. Can't afford to have any time off.
Quick question ( completely unChristmassy) but, has anyone ever read a book set somewhere they know well and had trouble concentrating on it ?
I'm reading a book about The Bunk and my mind keeps going off on its own. I thought I would really enjoy it but I'm having trouble keeping to the story.0 -

Fiesty I seem to have missed a page and only just seen your list. My 2 fave Christmas songs are missing.
The Power of Love - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Eta (I'll protect you from the hooded claw:rotfl:)
Christmas Wrapping- The Waitresses
ETA ignore the above, I just saw them. But I didn't see Baby it's Cold Outside by Tom Jones. Got to have some Tom Jones in there.
Christmas Wrapping is my favourite too! love that song, also love Elton John's Step Into Christmas, Paul McCartneys 'Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time' and 'All I want for Christmas' by Mariah Carey, though usually can't stand her! :rotfl:0 -
Congrats on the name change Eljay - am liking BloomingTastyIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0
