We have my uncles funeral this Thursday. He started with lung cancer and sadly it spread to the whole of his body. It was supposed to be his 60th this year, but we celebrated it last year as we knew he wouldn't make it. The saddest thing I have ever witnessed is watching him dance with his daughter and knowing that everyone was thinking the same thing - would this be the last time they ever saw him :( my auntie said the Macmillan nurses were a god send - absolute angels.

Moneysavingmumofone yay for gearing up to make GP and dentist appointment :) we are all very proud!

My carnivore husband has just got in and told me he is going on a high juice diet. My mouth hit the floor! He said he's fed up of feeling poorly all the time and wants to try and do something about it! My only worry now though is managing this drastic diet change along with his (pre existing) heart conditions and sensitive medications. Don't suppose anyone can recommend a juicer? X

Remember if he's taking a statin he can't have grapefruit juice, and that most food processors if you have one have juicer attachments

Amey, he's on beta blockers and warfarin. Am I right in thinking that a beta blocker isn't a statin? We already know about cranberry juice and leafy greens, which is why I'm worried about him juicing. He's pretty much an all or nothing guy and so im tying to weigh up the pros and cons of current diet vs juicing :(

  • Freespirit-How funny is that, we missed each other by a day! Ive been going since it opened, its about 45 mins from me though so I cant go regularly. Hopefully they'll do these 3 fillings asap with just the numbing injection then the rest under sedation. The dentist said about 6 weeks for the referral so need to get these particular teeth before then, cant handle the pain much longer and especially dont want to be in pain on holiday! (we go in a month)

We picked up DS' bike today, its lovely especially for £44! Just the helmet to get now and bike bell. :)

pinknfluffy28 you're not going to bring any of us down with your troubles! A problem shared is a problem halved so think of what it'll do to share with all of us!

Feisty I on the subject of milks - I can recommend hazelnut milk! I blend mine with a banana and a drop of vanilla, sometimes some actual nuts and it makes the nicest breakfast smoothie.

Well done on the weight loss Nanamia, fab result in such a short space of time! I've lost 12lbs since Christmas but you can forget SW, WW, low-fat or calorie counting, it only comes off me in the weeks I do carb-free!

Some pics of the birthday baking below, all went down well but think I'll find a way to politely escape the madness of 20 toddlers in one room in future! (It's toy figures on the cake - couldn't be chewed making Woody's legs out of icing! And I made the mini etch a sketch from one of those 25p magic slates, sticky-back-plastic style!!)

Two really long days in the office, 7am-10pm but desperately trying to get my email inbox empty before Thursday. Might involve an all-nighter tonight! The world won't stop turning if things are left undone of course, but I will worry about things I left unfinished and that's what I'm trying to avoid.

Pinksteps, how you are finding the energy for steam cleaning is beyond me! You are a superwoman.

OMO, missing your posts, what's happening in your world? And others who are missing-presumed-manic, know you're all busy too
so if you are just reading then hello and hugs to you all! :hello:

Wow Caitlyn they all look fab, I love the toy story cake it's very impressive:) How clever you are. I have only ever dieted once before and then I stuck to an Atkins type carb free diet (9 yrs ago) but this time I'm trying to change my eating habits for life. Ha get me, carbs are indeed my problem, well bread is covered in lashings and lashings of Lurpak :)

Moneysavingmumofone so pleased you got the bike :) and will be pestering till the appointment has been made and visit complete !!! I worry about you. It's good to see you back posting tho :) I've missed you. xxx

Snugglebunny I'm glad you are back too :) It's wonderful when loved ones defy drs opinions isn't it. DH wouldn't have met our granddaughters or seen our children so happy and settled, he really is my miracle. And now DSiL is the same - good fighting blood they've got :) xxx

Pinksteps thinking of you, how did sorting your craft stash go? Is your DS up on his feet now? xxx

Freespirit hope your head is feeling better. You can always start again tomorrow, have you joined the fly ladies or do you have a system? I really could do with organising my chaos :) xxx

Linky Linky Linky where are you??? Are you ok??? Can we help??? xxxxx

  • Caitlyn those cakes look amazing .. and cake pops too yummy a favourite in my house!
Thankyou for kind words, I'm ok, a lot better now. We have decided to give the business till the end of the year, I'm just being impatient, these things take time, and I know I have the skills and passion to make it work. I am so lucky to have an amazing man, he knows it is what I really want to do, and even though it is financially really tight for us whilst I'm not really earning, he is convinced I can make it work... but I am plagued with guilt whilst we struggle, DH turns 40 in May, and I spend many a night laying awake wondering how I can afford to get him a decent gift - any suggestions would be very welcome. Some weeks I'm earning nothing, and even when I do earn, well, there's a lot of set up & training costs to pay back before I'm in profit! I know I only have to ask dh for money if I or the children want or need anything, but I'm really struggling with not having my own money, but thats just selfishness, because dh & kids are fine, they dont seem to notice the £800 a month were down since I got layed off, and I would even go as far as to say they are happier, because I'm not constantly tired, stressed and moody lol!
Rambled on quite a bit, but your right, I do feel a little better for sharing :-)
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

DS is up and wobbly but getting there. We have just had the hospital bed delivered for my dad so he will be here soon.

I can't believe the odds and ends i have in the craft things. Ive sorted enough cross stitch to start making the carers a small token thing each for looking after dad.

Tbh i think I'm on autopilot and I'm looking forward to a bar of chocolate tonight. My diet is back on track and fitbit is charging but a glass of milk and a galaxy has my name on it :-)

    Good afternoon all!

I havn't been on the thread since boxing day

I had baby Mali last year and unsurprisingly she has taken up most of my free time! I think looking back i've had a touch of depression trying to cope with a not so nice house, a newborn, six year old, deciding to move & moving to a much nicer house but needing decorating within eight weeks - I just think it was all a bit much! We've moved to a new area, new school etc for dd, so it's hard trying to meet new people but I've started a zumba class & went along to the local WI meeting last night which was good.

Hugs :grouphug: to all that need them & congratulations to others :j - there's far too many of you & my brain is far too small to list everyone individually!

On the christmas front, Mali who will be 1 at christmas I have pretty much done hers thanks for the mother care sales & 20% off codes. Will just need bits for her stocking & xmas eve hamper.

Nia who will be 7 poses a bigger problem, there's just nothing she needs and I worry if I buy anything now she wont like it then! Currently she's into horses (we looked at lessons - £56ph! ) and moshi monsters!

Looking forward to being a more active member of the thread! :xmassmile
Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:
