Just worked out my Debt Free Date.....Dec 2018.

Crikey. That needs to be reduced.

And that's not even counting the overdrafts.

  • I'm a wimp when it comes to that ... whilst I know roughly what I owe and where ... I really really really don't want to know what a calculator thinks it's going to take me to clear

I read on other diaries, peoples debt free dates, and how it motivates them to go that extra to clear it quicker .... but frankly, it's a big de-motivator for me. I'd wind up curling in a ball under a rock and hibernating :o

    Right.

Having depressed myself by working out my debt free date last night and not being able to sleep from worrying about it, I need to give myself a talking to.

I have spent the last 9 years not working to capacity. There has been many reasons for this, main one being a single mum of a challenging lad and suffering from depression myself I have cut myself a bit of slack. If I want to get rid of this debt I need to work more. I also need to send off the DLA forms I have for DS, I may not get anything but I need to see. I think part of this is denial that there is something wrong with him. We live in a little cocoon and I deal with it. It's easy to forget how hard it is when you hide yourself away.

I also need to focus on why I want to get debt free. When DS has finished his schooling I want to move. To do this I need to be debt free, and have paid a little off the mortgage (interest only at present)

Another thing that will free up about £60 a month is giving up smoking so there i've said it. Today I stop smoking.

    Well,

6 months since I last wrote in here.

Loads has changed in my life.

I met a fantastic man, rich and handsome and kind. He paid all my debts off and bought me a new house. He is also a plastic surgeon and has liposuctioned away 6 stone of fat.

    ok....I lied.

I am now unemployed. Teaching contract ended in July and although they ahve offered me on-going supply work they cannot offfer me any regular work.

My DS has been a total nightmare for getting to school. Long, long story. I have applied and got DLA for him and as such am now looking to claim carers allowance and Income support going forward.

I'm actually feeling positive as the stress of dealing with him, being late for work, and all the stress that goes with that, knowing I was peeing off certain colleagues however understanding they tried to be etc etc.

So I will have to tighten belt. Hugely.

In other financial news I have finally had all arrears from CSA paid. Circa 4k. At the moment 3k is sitting in an account as a back up for the foreseen drop in money.(well all of it is sitting in an account but it was 1k overdrawn beforehand!) If I can be as frugal as possible it may last for a little while. My CSA assesment has gone up dramatically but as yet he isn't paying it and has already racked up new arrears.

TN is toxic as ever. My car was 'keyed' after a bit of a ding dong a few months back. No guessing who that was then. Police usual 'well there's 2 sides to every story' tripe. Yes there is but I don't see her car keyed!!

I'm hoping life will be ok. Having worked since DS was a baby, I'm looking forward to having some time to myself during the week. I'm going to embrace all the support groups/book clubs/craft groups that seem to go on during weekdays.

Hope everyone who stops by is having a good time and the numbers are falling/rising depending on what way you want them to go.

Just got cc3 statement in. That's the one I've been trying to pay down. They have offered me 0% balance transfer and am considering using that to transfer some over from CC2 (the biggy)

Whilst trying to sort out benefits I rang my payroll and they have informed me that they will be paying me for the summer holidays so that's fabulous. I just need to know what money will be coming in when I stop work so I can make decisions.

DS is off to his Nan's tomorrow for a week. I am looking forward to having some me time, nothing exciting planned just total rest and relaxation! Lie in's, reading, pottering, that kind of thing.

I am becoming acutely aware of where my money is being wasted and really need to stop these areas. Maybe when DS is away I will go cold turkey with the cigarettes:mad:
