the majority of which goes on pensions. You think? How much is the monthly deficit these days? £8 billion? £9 billion? A huge chunk of that is our welfare bill. .0 -

We have millions fewer Unemployed in this recession than we did in the last one, despite immigration of 5 or 6 million people since then.
If immigrants displaced British workers, you'd expect to see 5 or 6 million more dole claimants than we have today.
-Immigration does not increase unemployment in the native born population.
-immigration does not cause a reduction in average salaries
-immigrants cost society less in a lifetime than the native born population.
There is not a single economic reason to limit immigration beyond the existing rules.
They aren't claiming dole they are on a whole lot of other inactive lists, in education leading to nothing, training schemes, as near "slave" labour, leading to nothing. Do gang masters meet the full conditions of The NMW?
Much more part time work
22.6 per cent inactivity rate for those aged from 16 to 64. 9.04 million economically inactive people aged from 16 to 64

I agree -Unemployment isnt slowing - it's just being relabelled - wake up and smell the coffee! Canny Voters are now too well-informed thru social media to believe the line theyre being fed. Worst mistake Cameron ever made was to patronise them and not realise this!0 -
Wonder how Cons will hide or disguise those figures as the lads come home, having risked their lives? Will they feel as though theres nothing here for them in return? A bedroom tax on their rooms and no jobs or help to get into work? Many will have their support slashed just for making mistakes on their forms. Unemployment rising so fast will be a shock to them.

Can't have that -- let's just print some more money.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Sounds like the cry from a Yorkshire man...... How much (Only joking GH)0 -
Particularly worrying are trends in the south where the alleged downward movement of unemployment is beginning to stall... as predicted (for example Tonbridge, Malling,Thanet,Shepway,Maidstone)0

I used to think like that, i.e. that only the bravest people emigrate, and that their ambition and courage would stand them in good stead in whichever country they ultimately settled. But I'm not so sure this is the case anymore. The really successful people, by and large, stay in their own countries. Those who leave are hoping for a better life, i.e. they are leaving because they can't get ahead in thier own country. Such immigrants, even where language isn't a barrier, often languish in their adopted country, encountering levels of prejudice they have been unused to and find difficult to cope with. Their lack of success in their home country often translates to even less success in their adopted one. Ask anyone with an English accent who has tried to make a go of it in Australia.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »2. An immigrant minimum wage worker is less of a burden to the country than a native born minimum wage worker.
There is another type of immigrant, a vast mass of people with no hope in their host country , no skills to speak of, and certainly no language skills, moving, or planning to move, here right now. You think they won't be a burden compared to the native born population?0
