Old insurance company has done a credit search.

Has anyone experienced this before at all?
I've just accessed my credit file on Equifax and they've noted a credit search by the company trading as Admiral. I used to have a policy with them and not had one for a good few years with them, so no idea why they would have the need to search my file, unless there is something dodgy going on, I have sent them an email with my phone number to call.
Any other action that can be taken if they don't remove the search?

Did you get insurance quotes at the time?
Maybe you got one from an Admiral company?
In any case nothing to worry about.0 -
Is it a credit search, or an identity/address check?
Have you used the insurer's site for quotes or gone via a comparison site around the time the enquiry is logged?I am a mortgage broker. If you are still on their mailing lists then it is probably an identity search.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). This is what was on the search file
HASTINGS INSURANCE SERVICES LTD , a Insurance company, has made an inquiry against your credit report on 19/12/2012 . If you were not aware of or did not consent to this search, contact HASTINGS INSURANCE SERVICES LTD or Equifax for clarification.

I work for an insurance company and I know we have to ask permission to do a credit search (as it shows up) and it HAS to be stated by us that we are going to do one. The only time we do one is looking for quotes. Contact them and ask0

I have had the same sort of "inquiry against your credit report" on 23/12/2013.
My concern is that it sates it is against my credit report, and the alert states "If you were not aware of or did not consent to this search, contact EUI LIMITED T/A ADMIRAL or Equifax for clarification."
So that hardly sounds like an address check.
I have never had any direct dealings with Admiral and the last time I did an insurance check via a comparison site was months ago.
Has any one else experienced this kind of activity from Admiral recently?0 -
its a none showing search, dont worryDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
