Today I have a gammon joint soaked overnight in cold water, a few chopped carrots, some celery in chunks, a couple of onions and a handful of soup mix (soaked overnight and cooked for 10 mins) some chicken stock & a few black peppercorns, hoping it will taste as good as it smells
Looking forward to this for dinner, have it on high at the moment but will turn it down to low in a few hours.

    Sounds delish!

Will write this down to try myself when I empty the freezer out a bit :o

This was lovely even though DD said the Gammon tasted a bit different! I normally just boil it in water, but I thought it was lovely and it just fell apart yum yum

Hi everyone, quick question, when you put chicken thighs and drumsticks in the SC do you usually bother to take the skin off? Or just leave it on? Was thinking of doing a chicken chasseur type thing, and then tomorrow a curry but don't want them to come out all greasy.

    Thanksx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

I usually take the skin off as it doesn't crisp up like it does when it's oven cooked and I would imagine it would make the dish quite greasy.

I always take mine off. Just a personal preference, as I do so in the oven anyway. I'm not too keen on skin, and would only ever eat really crispy; which isn't happening in the slow cooker.

(Sorry, Gill72, you beat me to it! :A)
