British Gas Worcester Boiler "Warning"
Options
"Beware" of British Gas Worcester Boiler installations as we have just had a new Worcester boiler fitted 3 days ago by British Gas and each day we have had an engineer to try and fix it. The boiler fills up with condensate (water) and locks out. We have a £4119 bill and no working boiler for Christmas.
British Gas Engineers are all off sick in the area or on holiday so we have been told that we have to wait 2 days without heating and hot water. You need the free 1 year cover!

Why does this need a poll?0

To get an idea of whether I am just unlucky with British Gas or whether this is a known issue by others.
Thanks0 -
Based on the service we received just for a quote BG will never darken our door again. He asked NO questions about what we actually wanted, just measured, spent 20 minutes on his laptop then asked us to sign for the job doing.
The one year free cover isn't free, they charge you, even though the boiler has a warranty.0 -
Rich this does not require a pole it does not even require a thread lol.
Phone BG, get the area managers contact number or get someone to get him to contact you. Think how many they install thousands there are and always will be problems with an install you have been unlucky but if you speak to the manager I am sure he will have a way of sorting this for you before xmas.
Ring tomorrow!0 -
I've been on the phone for the last 3 days and wish I had never gone ahead with British Gas. You pay extra for the confidence. I'm being ignored as it's Christmas, whether that is having the mobile phone number of the district manager or phoning the British Gas free phone, we sympathise but can't do anything.0

4k? christ i had a worcester bosch boiler installed for £1500 by a local plumber with 5 year guarantee from worcester bosch. When the diverter valve failed worcester bosch sent an engineer around and he fixed it no quibbles within 48 hours of reporting a problem.
This is British Gas's fault plain and simple. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
Since the boiler is manufacturer-warrantied by WB (assuming that the paperwork has been done properly by BG), why didn't you try calling them out instead? This is not a WB fault, it's a bad install.
Why on earth would using BG give you 'confidence'? To add to your woes, you've probably paid about 40% over the going rate by using BG rather than a local independent.
If the condensate pipe has simply frozen, you can fix that yourself with a kettle or two of hot water. Or have they installed the condensate pipe so that it has to defy gravity and run uphill to drain?
if the condensate water has run back over the electrics, then I'd be asking for a replacement boiler. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Are those 2 days sat and sun?, kind of still gives you a visit before christmas. Sure a temp. condensate solution could be rigged up o get you through christmas if the problem turns out to be more complex than it sounds.0 -
The small print on BG's Home Care ads say; 'Limited engineer service at weekends and public holidays'. So not exactly 24/7 then..No free lunch, and no free laptop0
