Help freeview boxes

Options
My head hurts! I have been trying to get my head round all these deals currently with sky talk talketc etc and still feel like I have learnt anything so I plead for some help.

Basically currently we are with sky for tv, phone line and internet and paying a ridiculous amount of money for it so basically I want to reduce the cost as much as possible.

I am wanting one of those new freeview boxes hd that record rewind etc and then getting a good deal on a phone line and internet.

Can anyone tell me

a) A good freeview box
b) Reasonably priced phone line and internet (or should I just go for the cheapest)
c) Whether this is the sensible thing to do..we dont have sky movies (have lovefilm) but do have sky sports so the husband may need to sacrifice this.

Thank you for reading

Why not just terminate your Sky sub and then you'll still have all the Fresat From Sky channels anyway? However this will not let you use the Sky+ PVR functions, for those you'll either need a Humax Freesat PVR to use with your existing Sky dish and LNB.
If you want Freeview, you'll need a Humax Freeview PVR and an external TV aerial, if you don't already have one.
So Freesat may be the cheaper option for you.
As for phone and broadband, there is no universal 'best' 'or 'cheapest', because broadband is exchange-specific. Start with an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com for your available LLU options.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • ah didnt think anything like the humax freesat existed otherwise i did think to just cancel it and use the box, thank you so much for that. And you are right I would have had to get external aerial fitted so more cost! You just saved me loadsa money!! If I keep the sky box is there a way to still subscribe to sky sports, feel a bit mean to the husband.
    And will check samknows thanks

No way to subscribe to Sky Sports without basic Sky entertainment package - you can get Sky Sports 1 & 2 thru either Top up TV or BT Vision but that needs an aerial AND is nearly as expensive as Sky.Why not phone Sky "cancellations" - they may well offer you a decent discount on your bill if you sound determined to cancel - you may have to let your cancellation run ...but a lot of people's experience on here is that they get an offer within a month or two of switch off.
