Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 22nd December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
My first day off and I wake at 6.30am, typical! Rainy and blowing a gale here!
I had a nice evening out. I went to an Indian with a friend, we shared 5 dishes, plus naan and poppadoms and had a drink each, all for £24. Bargain! Lovely food too.
Today is super busy! Family Christmas lunch in parents local pub - myself, Mum, Dad, Brother & his GF, and both Grandmas! My brother won't be here for Xmas Day so we having big meal today. Must remember cards and presents!
Then tonight I'm having a few friends over for the Strictly final :j:j (Go Kimberley!). We are having a buffet, everyone is bringing a few bits. Mine is sadly not very OS as I have not had time to make anything, so Aldi has supplied it all from the frozen section :rotfl:. But I'll get to keep the LO's which is OS :rotfl:.
OS wise - need to hoover throughout, change bedding, wash dishes, quick clean of bathroom/loo, put away laundry mountain.
Have a good day all

Good morning FB and to all who cross/follow,
Pouring with rain here too. Still very dark.
Housework for me today. Wm is on, everything will go on the airer. A small pile of ironing needs to be done. I didn't get any baking done yesterday so i will get some done today.
Hubby is at work and the girls are still in bed. Enjoying a cuppa and the peace and quiet.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all,
DGD climbed into our bed at 5.15 because there was a creature in her bedroom, she did drop off but woke again at 6.10.
Got lots to do today as were having our family christmas gathering tomorrow. Vacume through and polish, iron table linen, make mince pies, swish bathrooms & kitchen, water all plants and go shopping for fresh veg, cream etc.
DH didn't get to clean the outside windows due to rain so hopefully it can be done today.
Plan on making a cheesecake for those who wont eat xmas pud.
JOOLS, Hope DH will show some improvement today.
BEEMUZED, Nice to see you on here, positive thoughts for your DH.
ISLANDMAID, Happy happy birthday _party_

Good Morning all, bucketing down here in north Kent but warm and cosy indoors.I am batch baking this morning and not going out at all.DD is going to pop down this afternoon to pick up some presents to go under her tree as I will be going there on Monday so she likes to make sure I don't have too much to load into my car with as I have steps down from my house .Shhe is so aware of my tendancy to trip over she thinks in advance at times .But I don't mind and it means we can have a coffee and a natter as well.
Definitely must be my lucky week this week I have been having an email conversation with Southern |Water about the fact that I had almost £144+ in credit in my account after having the water meter fitted in February and still paying almost £30.00 per month DD.They have now agreed that I am paying far too much and have reduced my payments to £15.00 per month and are going to credit my bank accout with £100.00:j:j:jGreat news as my credit was just going up even more every month and as I live alone my water consumption is only around £12-14 per month. At first they said it would be left until next summer to see if I used any extra so I wrote them again saying that as I lived alone and didn't garden at all and had been 10 months on a meter how was I suddenly going to use over £144 worth of extra water !!! I think they got the point, and an least I have an extra £100.00 refunded.I shall keep a strict eye on the water bills I think and if they start getting too much credit in them I shall email again. After all it is my cash that's over paid through no faullt of my own.Its well worth argueing about I think .
So with the extra cash I shall take my two lovely daughters out for a super slap-up meal as they do so much for me during the year
Hope everyone has a good day and if your going out wrap up well and take your brolly this rain looks set for the day
Cheers chums

FB - Enjoy your strictly final!
JackieO - Good for you, always better in your pocket.
Jools - Still sending get well vibes for OH. Hope you're managing to eat and sleep ok yourself.
Happy Birthday Islandmaid!
Had friends round for drinks and something to eat last night, I made a big, big bowl of spaghetti meatballs and garlic bread which went down well, there will be enough party food about so good to have a proper meal. Loads left so that will do our lunch and will freeze the rest.
House all clean and tidy apart from DDs room of doom, she can give that a good going over when she gets up. The fridge is nearly empty so I may turn that off when I leave.
Packing up the car today and DD and I are staying in Glasgow tonight (£19 premier inn). She will go to work tomorrow and I will head down south for the holidays. She will come down early on Monday morning to join us.
If I don't manage to get back on here, hope you all have a wonderful christmas. Be safe and happy. Take care. XX0 -

Good morning everyone
Thanks very much Bitsy Beans for explaining Sister Cas fund, I have already dedicated one of my collection of money boxes to a 2013 Sister Cas fund of my own.
Great news on bathroom and water bill JackyO.
We have a busy day planned at DD's house with painting furniture and then assembling it for GDD's new bedroom. We are all hoping and praying that her new bed arrives today, it was supposed to come on the 12th and Argos have messed up twice already. Third time lucky? I hope so!
I have a mountain of bedding and towels/bath mats/shower curtain to wash so better go and get started with that before we set off. I may take some to DD's and wash it there, using her electricity for a change from her using ours.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Stay warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
