I applied for an insurance policy by phone with LV this week and received the paperwork today.
There are some things that I am not happy with and considered using my right to cancel the insurance within the 14 days stated.
What are others experiences with LV?
I'll be phoning LV on Saturday to clarify matters.
There are some things that I am not happy with and considered using my right to cancel the insurance within the 14 days stated.
- LV will not only will charge for the cover provided for the days between start of policy and cancellation which I consider may be reasonable but will also charge a £32 policy set up fee. This last charge was not mentioned on the phone.
- They failed to raise the subject of insuring valuables during the phone call and I understood (wrongly) that they were covered under Personal possessions.
- I asked to be insured under specified items my windsurfing equipment. This is shown in the insurance schedule document that arrived today but is ticked as Personal possessions. In the accompanying Document of Insurance booklet that arrived today it is stated that Personal possessions are not watercraft.

Well I phoned LV on Saturday and was surprised that they told me that they do not consider a windsurfer to be a watercraft.0

I followed up my concerns by telephone with an LV customer service person and was reasonably satisfied with her replies.
Here's a repeat below of the items I raised in my first message in this thread with my current position:
Item raised: LV will not only will charge for the cover provided for the days between start of policy and cancellation which I consider may be reasonable but will also charge a £32 policy set up fee. This last charge was not mentioned on the phone.
Position: I still consider that this charge should have been mentioned. However after my follow up phone call I will not be cancelling my policy.
Item raised: They (LV customer service person) failed to raise the subject of insuring valuables during the phone call and I understood (wrongly) that they were covered under Personal possessions.
Position: During the follow up phone call I was told that my valuables are covered under Personal possessions.
Item raised: I asked to be insured under specified items my windsurfing equipment. This is shown in the insurance schedule document that arrived today but is ticked as Personal possessions. In the accompanying Document of Insurance booklet that arrived today it is stated that Personal possessions are not watercraft.
Position: During the follow up phone call I was told that LV do not consider windsurfers to be watercraft so I am covered for my windsurfers under Personal possessions.0
