Yes, it'll be Christmas Day, after all - surely the one occasion where people can eat what they like without others batting an eyelid. :D

    :D

We do usually have at least 3 veg (not including the potatoes) but I was just a bit surprised that there seems to be some sort of Xmas veg expectation thing going on that I've not been aware of. :)

You're mean :rotfl: I thought the same thing but bit my tongue!

:o no, daisiegg, I didn't mean to be *points out tongue* :)

    - did you think I mean't that annie couldn't make them on her own? I think it is impressive. We had an old Kenwood with that attachment but still never liked to use it for some reason :D

I personally thought that she was actually talking about pigs in blankets but had got the name mixed up....not that she had actually created sausages from scratch....but I may be wrong and if so I apologise wholeheartedly for underestimating her! :D

I don't know, in my family a roast dinner (never mind CHRISTMAS dinner) means five million different types of veg. And they all do get eaten! But that might just be my strange family...

Mine too. I'd do more if my dining table was bigger!!

We don't have roasts often - maybe 3 times a year?- so push the boat out when we do. :D.

Does having green sprouts AND purple sprouts count as 1 veg option or 2? :rotfl:

We are sick of turkey and never was that fond of it anyway so a lovely beef joint and a roast FR lemon/herby/garlic chicken for us.
Plus sausages in blankets and hm pork and sage stuffing.
Veggie wise we are in the loads of choices camp, so roast and mash spuds, roast squash, maple syrup roasted parsnips, brussels-steamed for 7ish mins then cooked off with crisped up panchetta/garlic/butter nom nom, mashed swede and carrots, some steamed carrots for the kids and sweetcorn. Plenty of gravy as well.

We sort of spread our meal out as we will be up early, so will have a light brekkie probably around 8ish, then a starter of prawns/salmon around lunchtime, then the main course around 2. There will be puddings if and when people feel like it, so HM merange nests with whipped cream and a choice of fruit/chocolate topping-rather than a full pavlova having to be eaten before the merange starts melting under the cream these mini ones will keep a few days and can be made up as and when wanted. Also doing a chocolate log as our cake. Obviously will have plenty of cream/icecream/mince pies/cakes etc already.

Going to mums later on and she will likely put out a buffet of leftovers, but they eat late around 6-7 ish so the kids can nibble as they like.
