  • It really is the worst toothbrush for length of time working - have had electric toothbrushes for years - usually get at least 4 or 5 years out of them

A very common problem indeed, this battery failure issue. Braun are well aware of it but continue to do nothing - it's a deliberate design fault to increase sales.

Take a look in their own forum to see the large number of complaints about it - just put 'battery' into search:

It's an awful lot of money to spend on something with a very short life span - there are complaints all over the net about it, which Braun choose to ignore.

If you register your toothbrush (there's a slip of paper included in the box telling you how to do so - takes about 30 seconds and only asks for name, e-mail, year of birth and type of brush purchased) the warranty is automatically extended to 3 years rather than 2.

It was almost certainly given to your dentist by a rep.

Doesn't matter, in my opinion! I have been given various brushes by Colgate, Braun and Sonicare etc. (I'm a hygienist), and only use one of them. They can give me what they like, it doesn't persuade me to go with their product if I don't like it!
