I think you will find the only difference is the brush heads.

It's the tri-zone one that's £79.99, the Triumph is still showing at £59.99. My son works at Argos, so he's getting mine with 10% staff discount. Thanks OP.

I would still say that a toothbrush lower down the Oral B range is as good as anybody needs.

Spend £25-£30 on a half-price deal on a brush that's usually £50-£60 and it will have he same head speed and action as this brush (and that's what cleans your teeth). The only thing extra you're paying for are the bells and whistles.

Spend the £25 you save on a few packets of heads, and you'll be sorted!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I picked up this toothbrush yesterday, I have to say as much as I agree you don't really need to spend £60 on a tooth brush it is a damn sight better than my Oral-B Vitality :)

You're right, of course - but amazing how much easier it is to brush your teeth for the recommended two minutes when the timer is there in front of you. Few of us will faff around setting a kitchen timer or watching the clock! My dentist has certainly noticed a difference in the health of my gums, so very happy I bought one of these a year or so ago.

The Triumph 5000 is last year's model. Better to go for the Trizone 5000 which is 63.32 on amazon (ASIN: B007WSAAKS), maybe the same or less elsewhere - I haven't checked.

It was almost certainly given to your dentist by a rep.

Lasts a couple of years - then the battery fails. Just after the warranty expires.
Correct. It annoys the hell out of me that the batteries aren't user-replaceable. There's no excuse. But I console myself with the knowledge that using the brush almost certainly saves me a few trips to the hygienist @ £52 a go.

There are a few easily found youtube videos on how to replace the batteries (complaints all over the net about them failing!) - involves a bit of dismantling and a soldering iron.

Looks reasonably straightforward if you're OK with that sort of thing, but it's absolutely inexcusable to make them that way just to increase your profits, regardless of the environmental impact.

People probably realise this, but for best battery life, it's best not to let the brush live on the charger.

Charge it up, and then use it for a good few days before charging it again.

Best not to let it run down too far, as it gets slower, and cleaning action suffers, and every 3 or 4 months just leave it running until it goes completely flat, then charge it up from there.

I've had one for 5-6 years now that is still working fine, although 3-4 days is the best I get between charges now where it used to be a good 10-12 days.

Mine wasn't free from the rep, but it was a 'professional' offer of £25 for the £170 one.
