As they have called you on your telephone line you have a right to talk to them however you want and it makes no difference if they record the call, they can do nothing!

Thanks coupon-mad. I have no intention of calling them back, but as they caught me at a bad time I panicked and couldn't remember any of the things to say I had swotted up on on here! Will tell them the above next time they call. I really appreciate all you advice and support!

We've ignored all the letters we've received from such companies over the last 2-3 years. I actually found one of their demands for payment (2011?) during an attic clearance yesterday. Not sure how that one avoided the recycling, but we promised our lad he could burn all the paper/rubbish I turf out of there this afternoon, so that will do to start the blaze.

We've received several letter from different private parking outfits over the last few years, and ignored all of them (see thread on board thanking people here for their help). Nothing happens, except you end up with a few extra letters through your door over the course of a few months. Ignore the content, let the kids enjoy scribbling over the back of them, or just recycle them. If you've an open fire in your house, they might make reasonable fire starters.

Since the phone call mentioned above we have had 6/7 further phone calls, all of which I have either hung up on, or my daughter has. Another letter came through last week stating that

"the account...may now be passed to our FIELD COLLECTORS prior to possible litigation. An agent may call at your address to arrange payment."

I know to ignore it, and I know the wording is very vague - maybe this, maybe that - but my question to you guys is: if anybody does call round, do I just tell them to get lost? Having read through other posts, I know it's unlikely, and I know they have zero power, I just want a script ready because otherwise I'm worried I will panic and end up agreeing to pay or something!

Unfortunately, you'll not get a chance to use any of these witty phrases as they'll not send anyone round - it's and idle threat that you can ignore.

Anyway, who the hell collects fields ? Where on earth would they store them ? Would the cows not object ?

Here is a good script " i will give you 30 seconds to get off my property then i will call the police"
Or an even better one " Fxxx OFF " Then close the door/;)

Why on earth did you duck out of the advice given before? Am I reading this wrong?

They will NOT send the boys round but if you'd not hung up the phone and instead used the wording I gave you, this scam would have ended by now - you would have had NO more phone calls and no more letters if you'd told them that all forms of contact from them is harassment and to STOP.

If you DID use that script and they carried on then you know you can sue them for damages for the sake of a £50 small claim fee (which you can also claim back).
