  • Hi,

do you know anyone who serves as a magistrate ? I've had my last 2 passport renewals signed by a magistrate , and they were accepted without any problems.

Nope as I said I do not know anyone at all in any of the professions listed other than the drs who as stated no longer sign them, my lawyer won't because not seen me in years and my bank dont do it either.............................that is my problem....................I do not know anyone at all who meets the criteria.

Could you go to your Doctor, explain your situation and see if they will do a one off?. Most surgeries charge for this service, so seems strange that they dont do it at all.

Are the requirements the same as for a British passport do you know? British passports need a "professional" to sign. When I asked at the post office the manager said anyone could do it such as a store manager. My next door neighbour was a shop manager so he signed them for me.

Contact the Irish passport service, they must be used to this problem by now. Perhaps you can come in in person & they can validate the photo & do some extended checks

the bristish passport id verification is far less restrictive, just has to be someone who knows you not a professional who knows you from a limited list as specified by irish passport dept.
