proving id for irish passport application probs

I am in process of applying for an irish passport - all is in order re documents nationality etc but my gps no longer do the signing of passport application forms, my lawyer has not seen me in about 10 yrs so said no, bank manager at abbey does not do it and I do not know anyone else that fits the criteria set by irish…

Do you have any family that can help out with introductions? ie "do you remember my neice lemontart? " etc

Failing that maybe get a ferry to ireland & call into the nearest garda station coz they can sign photos! Not sure if they have to "know" you in a professional capacity! Think you just have to bring ID.

Maybe the police where you live will sign if you bring a driving license with you?

Sadly all those professionals I knew in family are now dead ............and yes they do have to know you personally which is what is causing me the problems. Waiting for dublin to get back to me.

The list does include 'Public Representative' So this would include local councillors, Town councillors, MEPs, and presumably Parish councillors. For some unknown reason the list also includes Accountants. It used to be the case that a teacher could sign it. Couldn't you ask somebody you know to start up a religion: then send off a few quid to one of those fake U.S.A Universities, get fake Doctor of Divinity status, call themselves DR/Reverend, and get them to sign your passport?
