Some advice please for friend who's granchildren have been taken into care.

I'm asking how long do the childrens benefits i.e. CB&CTC still keep being paid to the parents, should they stop automatic or do the parents have to inform DWP of the change of circumstances. It's been over 3 months now and they seem to think the benefits or needed to keep the home running for when/if the children come…

My friends children have recently been taken into care (I think in her case she more or less "voluntarily" handed them over) and she has been told that her benefits for the children will continue for 6 weeks after they were taken.

I dont know the rules of this but this is just what she has told me.
