I'm asking how long do the childrens benefits i.e. CB&CTC still keep being paid to the parents, should they stop automatic or do the parents have to inform DWP of the change of circumstances. It's been over 3 months now and they seem to think the benefits or needed to keep the home running for when/if the children come home.

The parents need to inform DWP who will make a decision on entitlement.0

The parents are not entitled to claim any benefits when the child/ children are in care.
Have the Children been accomodated under section 20 or are they on a full care order.??credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00

I thought it strange that CB doesn't stop automatic as I would of thought the foster parents would need to claim it but ha ho what do I know.0

I think that if children are fostered, then the foster parents don't get child benefit for them (or child tax credit, for that matter). Instead, they receive maintenance/skills payments from the council.
You're still right that child benefit should be stopped for the birth parents though.0 -
ok if they wasnt given up ( section 20), the chances are that they are on care orders.
so thats a defo no to parents getting the child benefits etc....
if fact no one chould be claiming any thing as they are currently being looked after. ( so to speak)
A few weeks ago i placed a child back home with their parents and got in touch with the child benefit dept to inform them, only to be told someone else was still claiming for them.
The other people ( family members) will be written to and have to pay back all the money they shouldnt of had.credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00

Thanks I will pass this information on, what they do with it is up to them but the longer this goes on for the more will have tobe paid back, as they are on JSA would take a fair bit of time.paulwellerfan wrote: »ok if they wasnt given up ( section 20), the chances are that they are on care orders.

I think it all depends on their removal order and if temp or permanent. I have a dro for my niece and the parents claimed until I got dro. When I got zero but until that point they had cb and ctc.0
