Just over a year ago, this thread got a lot of people weeping. Some were taken advantage of, but many were not, and felt more rewarded by helping than taking.
Maybe there is a hope for society still. Fingers crossed.

I went with the freecycle idea from Hermia this evening and have added the websites to my list to work through when I am at a loose end.
A man came to collect some furniture from me, and I took it all out to his car for him so wouldn't get soaked in the rain. He had a long car journey back and wouldn't want to be sitting all soggy!
I'm just hoping it will help me become a nicer person and also spread a few smiles0 -
Managed to mess up my good deed today
Was trying to sell some furniture on a facebook page and someone messaged me asking for the item. I didnt hear anything for a few days so assumed they had decided they didnt want it.
Someone else then asked for it, but as I needed it moving soon-ish I told them they could have it free if they collected it.
The original buyer then emailed asking if they could collect the item. As the second person was on their way to collect I said that I had already promised it someone and apologised.
Just seen the second person list my furniture on the facebook page, and the first buyer buying it off them for double what I was asking!
So by trying to be nice and giving someone something for free, I have actually cost someone else double what they were originally going to pay.
Makes me feel guilty.
Need to do extra good deeds tomorrow to make up for it0 -
Just seen this and don't think that someone getting something for free and selling it for more should null and void your good deed.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

I was in Tesco at the self serve tills when the man in front walked away leaving a £10 note behind. I called him back to get it! Plus I have sent a Christmas cake and some home made Christmas goodies to a fellow OSer who was due to have a poor Christmas. XxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
