This is what I would do. Simply write back enclosing the ticket saying that it was attached to your car. Send it recorded. In the letter do not make any mention of your car reg/make/colour/model etc. If the warden was smart then they would have taken a photo of your car in situ and they will write back with an amended ticket which you must pay, but if they have not taken a photo....Voila!

Photocopy it, send it to the ticket office saying it isnt your car - state the make and model. They will do a registration check, see that the registration relates to a vehicle not registered to you, and probably a different vehicle all together, if a vehicle at all.
Then you're off the hook.
Unless, the warden had picture evidence, where he can legally re-issue the ticket.

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear yesterday. If the ticket has the wrong registration number on it then the authority that issued the ticket will not be able to contact you. Someone else will get the bill for your parking misdemeanor.0
