By the time I was 7 or 8 I had worked out for myself that there wasn't a real Santa. I don't remember being traumatised about it.

However, my dear old Dad continued to leave my presents in a pillow case at the bottom of my bed until I was 16. As I was at work by that time, I told him it was Ok to stop!

When my son was 4 years old and in reception his friends told him Santa wasn't real, that parents buy the presents. I was very happy about this as I think we should be truthful. I am a Christian and Christmas is about the coming of Christ. My son informed me that knowing Santa wasn't real wouldn't spoil going to see the man dressed up at Lewis' store and receiving his present! We duly went to the grotto etc. and he happily received his present from the man dressed up as Santa!
  • I was full of hatred when I found out santa wasn't real. It made me realise there was no such thing as magic!!!!! :(
I would have rather of rather never of known about santa at all.

  • Is it time to kill off Santa?

    NO

I would respond more fully but a question as stupid as this does not deserve a proper response

I was also hurt and upset at being lied to by my parents when I found out 'Santa' wasn't real

My son always knew that I provided his presents & 'Santa' was just a man in a suit

At the risk of being shot down in flames ....
I think kids 'believe' in Santa more for the parents sake and some pretend to still believe to pull the wool over their pushover parents

If you can't afford what they want they shouldn't have it, but have something you can afford, kids are never too young to learn life's lessons

I suppose finding out that so many people have collaborated to lie about the existence of Santa provides a useful lesson for when kids are introduced to the idea of religion...

Why bother with an improper response then?
Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc
