disappointing bouquet

Tbh OP I think you should have complained when you picked up bouquet and if necessary asked for a refund. Think there is very little you can do now, other than vote with your feet, as if you contact them they will ask why you took it.0

We experienced something similar when we asked a previously trusted florist to send flowers to the company handling MIL's funeral.
On the day we could not see the arrangement we'd ordered. OH spotted a card bearing our names attached to something that looked as if it had been thrown together at a toddlers' arts and craft session. Vivid clashing colours, leaves visibly stapled on in odd places... It was embarrassing, and inappropriate.
We would have removed the card but other family members had already seen it.
The next day I phoned the florist to complain. They were unrepentant, saying the arrangement was in a 'modern' style that had been well received by other customers. I couldn't help laughing at that!
OH also phoned them later in the day to make sure they understood they'd lost our custom. There was not much else we could do.
Hoping your next flowery purchase goes more smoothly, Embob.0 -
I've generally been lucky with florists and I also try to ring the nearest branch to the recipient to discuss what I'd like and what they can do. (I haven't used Interflora for years as I personally think their 'onward carriage charges' are quite ridiculous.) I have had some very good service and really pretty bouquets delivered through M&S and would recommend them for reliability.
I certainly would complain if I collected a bouquet/arrangement and it looked amateurish! A professional florist with a good eye can make even 5 blooms and foliage look stunning.0 -
I trained as a florist and we did rarely got complaints but when we did we always apologised (even if we didn't agree there was a problem) and offered a full refund.
Ideally you should have said something at the time, but I know it's hard when you are put on the spot like that. It might be worth seeing if the florists has a website, a lot do now and contact them through that, you might be surprised at their response.
We had an excellent reputation and wanted to keep it that way so always responded to any complaints quickly.0 -
I remember that I ordered a wreath of white lilies for my bro in laws funeral (rather more than I normally spend but I knew that it would be scrutinised by hundreds of eyes as he was a prominent person in that town.
OH picked it up and when he brought it home I was furious! the flowers were all either dead or dying and bits were falling off it! no way could I take that (we were travelling quite distance).
I was so upset I burst into tears in the local shop and the assistant consoled me - as it turned out, she knew the florist and where she lived. So I turned up on the doorstep with offending wreath - she tried to wriggle out of it, but her OH made her offer to remake the wreath for the morning.
an hour later she knocked our door with a beautiful wreath! I havent used that florist since tho - I wouldnt trust her!
If I had picked up the wreath I would have said there and then I wasnt accepting it. either a fresh one or a refund which I would have given to the charity nominated for the funeral!0 -
That's why I do flowers myself - you get a better quality of flower as you choose them and can reject anything you don't think is good enough.
And whoever gets the flowers, if they ask, seem to like the fact I've done it for them myself instead of chucking my credit card at an online shop.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
If I had paid £30 for a bouquet, and when I arrived what was handed over to me was clearly substandard, I would have questioned it. You dont need to be a qualified florist to see when something has been put together professionally or thrown together carelessly. Unfortunately it seems the florist you used ripped you off.
At this time of year any florist worth their salt is rushed off their feet with orders, not usually able to fit in a bouquet at the last minute. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
I was in similar situation only it was friend's shop. I don't think she did my buquet as she was off that day, but it was flowers for 50th Bday and the colours and everything..it was like the revipient was on verge of dying. Browns and some 'cabbage' in it..(you know that modern plant they nowadays put in, looks lovely with whites but this..)
I couldn't say anything (I felt), but since I always ask if she specificaly will do them. It's hard.
The recipient did have weird look at them too..0 -
I would be grateful to get a bouquet. I don't get many flowers0
