I signed up to the amazon family service a couple of weeks ago, definitely a good time of year to do it. Most items have arrived next day but like someone else said, it appears to be the royal mail items that take longer!
  • I also signed up for amazon family and it's been great, however, a few things I've been looking at today have said that it won't be here before Christmas even though they are prime eligible so it's best to thoroughly check the estimated date of delivery before purchasing.

  • I concur with those saying that next day delivery can be sent out Royal mail ( I haven't tried Prime, but have paid an extra fiver for 'guaranteed next day delivery' for them to send out first class but be a day late - though still within RMs remit. I did get a refund but that's not really the point).
No idea how next day would work if ordered on a Sunday.. I wouldn't think that RM do mail stuff on a Sunday?, so would have to be courier?
  • I have always been happy with Amazons delivery times as the free service always arrives quicker than predicted. However I am using my months free Prime service I got when I registered my Kindle Fire and I have not had one order arrive next day. I ordered 4 items on my first order - two items took 2 days and the other two took 5 (both in stock and showing as available for next day), then the item on my next order took 2 days and the final order I placed and Friday is still yet to turn up.

I guess its down to it being Christmas but I have to say there is no way I would rely on this service or pay to have it, at least with the Free Super Saver Delivery it is normal a bonus when it arrives early.

If you're planning on leaving your Christmas until Sunday and relying on Amazon Prime to get your parcels to you on Monday (Christmas Eve) - be aware that I've been using the trial and two of my orders (four parcels) haven't actually arrived the next day, but the day after instead (assuming the Tuesday's lot do actually arrive today)... which could mean you get your stuff after Christmas Day!!

P.S. Both orders made before mid afternoon and had delivery estimated as the next day, even when they were obviously not there the next day!

Hope you contacted amazon about it. We've had our prime service extended by about 7 or 8 months now due to items not arriving on their "guaranteed" delivery date. A lot of the delays in our case have been down to amazon not grasping that Royal Mail 1st Class isn't a 1 day delivery service but by Royal Mail's own definitions on their website a 1-2 days service
  • That's weird, all the items I've ordered that have been sent royal mail have been by special delivery by 1pm and not first class pst.

sorry for sounding like stick in the mud this offer has always been here for last few years, i don't see how is a grabbit at all???
and tbh ordered loads of stuff this year on free super delivery and seems royal mail is pushing them thru 2 b honest example ordered on a saturday then another item on the sunday and both turned up together with a knock at the door 7am on the tuesday from a royal mail van no less and a guy just dealing with parcels not the normal mail and both parcels had 2ND class mark on them so seems to me royal mail bunch them up then kick a van out in one hit from my experience this week the rest before that was with normal mail. so have to say fair play to royal mail this year well done!

If your order arrives late, complain to them and they give you another month free.

I've had the same experience as others here, excellent service apart from anything sent by Royal Mail. I've ordered three items this week which were sent using RM, all have taken two days. I've emailed amazon and they say prime isn't a guaranteed service...

I don't understand how they can say it isn't a guaranteed service when confirmation emails specifically state "Your guaranteed delivery date is".

I had a guaranteed delivery date of Wed for an item which still is yet to turn up. I have no doubts it will turn up eventually, but that's just not good enough when using Prime, and the replies to my emails are winding me up even more, telling me these dates are just estimates.
