UK Back In Recession In Xmas Quarter-Are You Too Scared To Spend?

Fears are rising that we will enter triple dip territory in 2013.for example The Bank of England thinks our economy will contract in the fourth quarter of 2012, despite the Jan Sales media hyping, with governor Sir Mervyn King predicting a "zig-zag" road in and out of recession after that. It recently downgraded its forecast for gross domestic product (GDP) in 2013 to around 1%, as people lose confidence in our ability to boost exports and unemployment starts its upward rise.0

No, it's not really TOWIE country (think Chigwell). Perception is that the growing airport is giving rise to jobs, directly and indirectly, and the existence of two grammar schools makes it attractive to many families. It's the biggest town in Essex with plenty of amenities and two separate rail, and two separate main road links to central London.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

The Negative Growth For Marks And Spencer Xmas General Sales turned out to be much worse than I thought! Mums too frightened and broke to shop, gave up Christmas meal out and things for themselves.... and bought treat food for Xmas dinner for their loved ones? Worried about their jobs/childcare costs etc....

Back in the real world, the idiots are about to be disappointed:
http://www.brc.org.uk/brc_news_detail.asp?id=2360&kCat=53&kData=2UK retail sales values were up 0.3% on a like-for-like basis from December 2011, when they were up 2.2% on the preceding year. On a total basis, sales were up 1.5%...
Not a great year but not a terrible result either.0 -

I doubt it. There are winners and losers in retail and M & S has been in decline for years.
People weren't too worried about money to shop in John Lewis!0 -

Not quite! Sales growth was actually lower than xmas period last year - (you need to take the 2 extra shopping days out to make a fair comparison )0 -

The idiots are disappointed daily around here.:)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

M&S have had the same attitude over the years to their customers as what Governments have to the Electorate.
The problem is that none of them listen to the customer only tell the customer what they want you to do and on their terms.
Our family shopped for generations at M&S until they would not accept our MasterCard for our shopping, we were so disgusted that we have never gone back and I am not alone, they have lost a fortune with our family and friends.0
