Our family shopped for generations at M&S until they would not accept our MasterCard for our shopping, we were so disgusted that we have never gone back and I am not alone, they have lost a fortune with our family and friends.

Ok, I'll take the bait. Why wouldn't M&S accept your Mastercard?

No bait at all, M&S said that they would only take certain cards and advised me to get their own M&S card.

It was at the same M&S shop in London at Oxford Street/Baker Street corner that the late Princess Diana bought a number of shirts and was refused payment with a MasterCard on the exactly the same grounds as I was, LD had to get her security to pay in cash.

    It wasn't.

Depends how long ago the poster is referring to.

They wouldn't take credit cards only their own charge card (payable in full) at one time.

being a carer at xmas , i would usually fight tooth and nail to get new years eve or boxing day off, this year wasnt bothered and probably saved between 150 and200 quid , usually treat myself to something at xmas , this year didnt bother . so i have spent about 400 quid less this xmas.... then again im probably going to earn 3k less than i earned last year ... due to no sleep ins , less w/e enhancements .... council are cutting to the bone, "crowding out" is increasingly becoming less of a problem

Not sure what you are saying...
  • So the triple-dip IS happening (well, according to Vicky Redwood Capital Economics, talking about people not spending at Christmas) :

“December’s drop in the official measure of retail sales volumes confirmed that it was a fairly lacklustre festive period for the high street and provided more evidence that the UK has slipped into a ‘triple-dip’.

Xmas qtr Retail sales lowest bar one since 1998.... who was it recently who said 'and the good news just keep on coming?) Clue = it was at PMQs...
  • The idiots are disappointed daily around here.:)

Christmas retail sales figures today and the new triple dip :

    So..... about those idiots....

It used to bug me at the time.

I had a charge card which then moved onto a credit card, then eventually they started to take most credit cards.
