    The bank didn't put our overpayment through, and no redemption letter has been done either.:mad:
    I phoned them up last night to find out why, and they apologised and are going to backdate the overpayment.

    I don't mind mistakes if they're put right. First time ever Co-op have let us down.

    Fingers crossed it will happen this time around.

    Anyone have an idea of how much it costs in Scotland to have the legal charge the bank has on the house?

    Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
    Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.
  • Finally starting the overpayments again in December, after saving a large emergency fund.
    Will only be paying off an extra £57 per month but aiming to increase this by at least another £100 in 2010.

    @ailuro2 - I hope you get sorted soon :-)

  • Just a thought DH - does your mortgage have an early repayment fee? Don't mean to be a misery but I know several people who do - including me!

  • Just to let everyone know..........I am now mortgage free!!! yipee! Wages go in this week, calcs done and this is the week we owe nowt to anybody!!!

    Thank you to everyone on this thread for all their support through the ups and downs I can honestly say I wouldn't have been able to do it without you all! When I first started I didn't think I would pay it off in the time period but we have done it before so its unbelievable!

    The plan now is to start charging ourselves rent and putting it in a cash isa for retirement to supplement our pensions as we wouldn't have had this money, enjoy xmas, have a holiday and maybe have a take away once a month ;)

    Good luck to you all, I'll be popping on the thread to see how you are all getting on :)
