I'' update at the beginning of April as soon as our new balance is available, it WILL be before the anniversary date, though.:D

Try and find extra money for overpaying everyone - raid those piggy banks, especially if you're on fixed rates!

Been catching up on this thread today and just wanted to say a really big congrats to Mountainlioness on the news of cub(s).:j :j :j

Also well done, of another kind, to all those doing so very very well on the paying down/paying off. I think it makes us all feel better to hear the good news stories.

To let you know, we have been overpaying on our advance (worst money mistake I ever made:mad: ) and have managed to save £6413.08 and 68 months by paying in £2200.50 since last July. We have also been saving money towards central heating (our boiler is over 30 years old and gives off more heat than the radiators!! ) and maybe an extension to the house. This is alongside paying off credit cards, saving for xmas/birthdays/any sort of present to anyone not directly in the household) and saving a twelth of all annual bills including estimated amounts for all the unpredictable stuff like vets bills, glasses/dentist costs, car servicing etc etc (not necessarily done in that order you understand).

It seems like tiny bits when doing it and that nothing will ever get better but putting it all together like this it is great to see how far the Dasiy household has travelled in less than one year:j . We feel in a much better position generally about life, not just money matters. All of this was helped on by reading this website including this thread so a big thanks for your help guys even though I mainly lurk and the help was not directed officially at me,:T :A :T

Thanks for the early updates that is great makes it easier to read the PM a bit at a time rather than having to do them all at once.

We have 4 people who have not updates since June 08 so if you are still around drop me a PM or you will come off the list sadly.

  • I'm still waiting for the the current month's payment to show up in Internet Banking, but I should have an update by Tuesday.
  • I've taken the plunge and LOWERED by monthly overpayment...

I can get a better interest rate on my Nationwide Regular Saver account than I'm paying on the mortgage (2.50% gross, 1.50% net versus 0.68% on the mortgage from 1 April), and will have the cash to hand in case I do end up moving and need it for a deposit etc.

So, I'm lowering my regular monthly overpayment and pushing £1,000 per month to the Regular Saver instead. Not quite sure how I'll reflect this in my figures and sig, as I already include my cash ISA as an unofficial offset. Off to play in the signature design area...:p

Well I've been checking the mortgage letters and statements etc today and found a more recent total outstanding....despite falling a little behind recently it turns out we have paid £360+ more than I thought we had.
I am making regular overpayments to reduce the arrears and am optomistic that we will easily beat the target we set (fingers crossed)

  • Hi all,

Just logged on to send tallgirl my updated balance which is now £10k!

Looking forward to next months payday when it will hopefully be under £10k, I've already done some work so I know there will be a payday! Luckily work is busy at the mo and I'm even turning down shifts but everyone I talk to seems to be made redundant or know someone who has.

Hope everyone is ok, looking forward to the updated figures, I can't believe how fast the year is going! :)
