  • Hi All

Just PM'd TG but thought I might as well update you all...

We've just remortgaged (deal set up about 6 months ago but just redeemed) to a BOE +0.38 but we had to take a £2k hit in the process (one of the 3 products was still in its early redemption stage but we should come off better longer term). So no update from us at the mo. We had finally got under £250k so a bit of a knock back psychologically even though it was a conscious decision!

I've had a pay rise so hoping to get back on the wagon soon. The safari was amazing BTW! But back to the real world now.

  • Hi everyone!

I've not been on the boards much lately as I'm frantically revising for my final accountancy exam but I'm another that is glad in the current situation that we've nearly got rid of the mortgage.

Work have annouced redundancies this week - I'm not affected as I'm still training and it's just the levels above me but not sure what that means this time next year if I want to move up . . . ?

Not had a great month for paying off the mortgage this month as we've had our gutters replaced (they have needed doing for the past 2 years - we've put up with being dripped on but the house was starting to get damp so I think it's a bit of a stitch in time!).

However I have also "invested" in a chicken coop and 2 lovely chucks which have yet to supply any eggs but they've made us a talking point with the neighbours! Anyways all in it was about £375 so not cheap (no pun intended) - I suppose we could have made one but at least I know they are warm and dry at night and don't have to worry about a fox getting in my home made run 'cos I'd just feel so bad!

Hi MMC - good luck with the exam

I think getting the gutters done sounds like it was a good investments.

I would love to keep chickens! Do you live near to other neighbours - I have always wanted them, but am worried about the neighbours objecting?
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

You shouldn't have any neighbour problems if you only keep hens. I have 4 in the garden and they still lay well, even without a cockeral "encouraging" them.

Mind you, they are moulting at the mo. They look a complete mess and they def. cannot be bothered to lay right now.

I dread to think what the cost per egg must be when you take housing into account but they are lovely to have and the eggs are absolutely delicious!

Good luck with you new mortgage Cazmanian_minx. Here's to us all continuing to cut the interest we pay on our mortgage.

I emailed my one account a few days ago and they are passing on the 0.5% rate reduction....it's strange that they normally write to tell me but didn't this time. Anyway, it'll all count as extra repayment for the mortgage as I won't reduce the amount I leave in the account for repayment. It's not much but it all counts xx
