Happy Birthday Kaz, hope you celebrate in style this weekend!

Sparklymessygirl - enjoy paying off your mortgage - are you going to leave a pound in to get them to keep your deeds, or is that a myth?

    Hi sparklymessygirl,

Wow - that's fab! Enjoy the feeling, and don't forget to post on the Roll of Honour. Buy yourself a cream cake or two, and something nice to drink.

Reading your post has helped me to remember how close we are getting to paying off as well...I "know" we're close, but I haven't yet started to feel it, if that makes sense?

Now I can't wait until it's my turn (which will be sometime in 2008, I think, depending on whether I manage to get another job) :)

    Hi DD,

Yup, I agree - go work on that virtual graduation ceremony for sparkly :)

(And make it a good one, because it will help me with the motivation for the final push for my mortgage!!)

You might also need to think about a ceremory for the MFiT guys who meet their goal? Although, I had a look at the chart and it looks like the ones who have already hit their target (catowen? and others..) are keeping going :)

I still can't quite believe how this MFiT is all working out so well - as a group we are doing great things in paying down our mortgages. Thanks again to you and TallGirl for starting this whole thing off.

It certainly makes it seem more real doesn't it when people are ctually reaching their goals or paying off their mortgages completely- espescially as we're only 1/3 of the way into the challenge.
Updated my snowball yesterday and stuck an extra £36 (I think) on to round it down to an even number for pay off at last payment. Obviously it never does give me an even number though because by making that extra payment I save money and a bit more so it's reduced even further!
Final payment is looking to be £690.23 on 22/07/13. Still not enough to smash the MFI3 target but may manage a MFI6 rather than 6.5!
I'm off to have another look at the table to see how everyone's doing, TTFN!

    Hi all,
I've been offline for a while so missed the cut off date for the last update, but I thought I'd post to let you know that I'm still with you all! I'm still plugging away towards my personal challenge of reducing mortgage by an extra £10k. As of 30th March, my actual mortgage balance was £90,129, which is almost on target. However, I've also stashed away over £3k in my ISA which I'll use to reduce the amount I need to remortgage when it comes round in November, so I'm effectively down to roughly £87,000 balance
    :j Chuffed to bits!

I've also just been lucky enough to get a company car, which I traded down to a lower model, so I get £60 quid per month in my pocket as compensation, as well as saving £200 a month that I was previously paying out for my car lease. Guess where all that spare dosh is going too?!

I've PM'd the above to Tallgirl, and will make sure I get a proper update in on time in July. Byeeee!!

There are those who think they can and those who think they can't - and they are both right

  • Thanks for being so excited for me :j

I don't think there are deeds as such as it is registered title (I guess I'll find out :p )

I'll be v. glad if it keeps people motivated - I feel a bit of a fraud though - my mortgage was always small - I borrowed twice my salary in 1994 and never moved! I know that makes me an oddity - it was probably apathy more than anything :o My house is an ordinary terraced house - I am a bit jealous of people with lovely houses but what I really want is a place in the country to keep chickens and goats. I don't know how that will happen :rotfl: as I hate working for a living!

I'm rooting for all of you and in complete awe of the committments the rest of you have made :T

    Sparkly
