Thanks for the good wishes, I think it went fine, no major booboos as far as I can tell.:D

Shazzany- what a wonderful reward for overpaying your mortgage - being able to be a SAHM.:j

Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.
  • Good luck on the new job, especially if it will bring more money in for the overpayment pot. Very stressful those type of interviews - well done.

I pushed myself towards a promotion as part of this challenge. Stepped right out of my "comfort zone" :o as they say, but am 15K better off for my troubles  This makes a massive difference to my MFi3 efforts, and also allows the missus to be a SAHM. Can't see myself in this job for life as it is very high pace and stressful, but I can always change jobs again in a couple of years when the mortgage has gone !!

Shazzany how lovely that you will be able to be a SAHM! Just think that you wouldn't be able to afford it if you'd not found MSE and been overpaying your mortgage previously.
It's the best kind of reward really isn't it?

Hope you get the job Ailuro.

Good luck Aliuro and congratulations to Shazzany.

Wow Cupid_s, that must be some holiday you are going on. Where are you going? Sorry of you have already posted and Ihave missed it.

Having paid off just over £2k last month (regular payment of £414 and o/p of £1600) I'll not be able to pay off as much this month. I seem to have had quite a few mid-range costs this month, the kind of £50-£60 one-offs that add up when there are a few of them. I bought print cartridges, some clothes and some card-making stuff, as well as the usual hair cut. We also had a weekend in Fort William, which was lovely but chipped into the funds.

My regular payment this month will be £404 and I expect to be able to pay off an extra £650 so that will take it to just over £1k this month. Hopefully May will be better, although I have just bought a new pc. :o

Keep up the good work everyone!

We're going to the galapagos islands for our 5 year anniversary (I suggested about 20 places and DH said no to all of them apart from there - I wish he was a bit less fussy!). And now we're finding all sorts of other related spends. DH wants a digital SLR camera and I want a camcorder. It's scary because we never spend anything really I don't know what's come over us (employment maybe?)

Overpaying by £1600 a month is amazing though! I think I'll aim for that after the holiday.

Ailuro - glad it went ok. When will you hear?

Shazzany - congratulations. It is great that because of your overpayments you can at least afford not to work and have the choice of staying at home. I would say you're lucky but I'm sure it's more down to hard work and determination (and maybe MSE lol) than luck!

I'm going to aim to overpay by £700 this month. I am getting my final installment of demonstrating money from uni and am getting reimbursed for train fares from an interview so all that can go straight off the balance.

    :rotfl:That's funny!

Your upcoming holiday sounds wonderful, and I'm sure you deserve it - it sounds like you've been working hard for the last while.

Ask family / friends to lend you their camcorder (if it's a decent one:p) and assure them you'll replace it if anything goes wrong. Buy them a new memory card to day thank you. I think people are a bit more sniffy about lending SLR cameras, though.;)

Cupid-S It will take a few weeks before I get feedback from the interviews, and maybe a development plan if they've found any areas of weakness.

Bad start to day  . Credit card bill came & 0% ends next month (was all on stuff spent to do up BTL property before selling), don't eant to risk applying for another at the mo so just withdrew £1886.06 from offset to pay it off  . Which means I've now paid 38.39% of MFiT challenge instead of breaking 40% which I would have done this month. Stupid really to be upset, I should have included it in total debt to start with instead of pretending it didn't really count :o .

    Ho hum, onwards & upwards......

Edit: Just snowballed new figures, and it hasn't affected my final pay off dates so suppose it's not the end of the world
