Mortgage Free in Three Yrs

I'm having an ongoing battle with Woolwich about why I can't see my balance online.
They've told me you only have online access if you bought your mortgage directly from Barclays - I went through L&C so apparently I can't see it. I get to wait on hol dfor 20 minutes if I want to check what they say my balance is, so instead I run an excel spreadsheet and only check in with them occasionally!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
 Meant to draw £100 out on Friday to get shopping, leaving £17.28 left in bank till payday tomorrow. Went to transfer £17.28 over to mortgage account tonight only to discover £100 extra in - remembered it had been too cold to queue at cash machine so had paid with debit card & got cash back, actually spent over £100 in total. This transaction hadn't yet gone through.
However, rules are rules. Whatever is left in bank on day before payday goes to mortgage, so went to transfer £117.28 over instead, Friday's spends can come out on next month's budget.
Which is where the conspiracy starts..... Obviously my bank hacked into my computer, read my budget and mortgage spreadsheet and realised what I was up to. Can't have that, saving some interest, even if it is with a rival co, all banks stick together etc. So, passed a secret mesage to eggpay who then declared they couldn't process my transaction as their site was down. Huh, likely story. Where's watchdog's number.
Oh well, try again later. And when I pay an additional £100 off tomorrow that will be another month off my MFD (currently Oct 2018, aiming for Aug 2011). They can win the battle but they won't win the war.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi
When our mortgage was moved from the Woolwich to Barclays we were given a customer number which can be used to access our balance on line. Don't know if it makes any difference - but it is a tracker & has savings pots (which we don't use) so is probably an offset mortgage (though we don't use it like that)...hope that helps....I know this has cropped up before and only some Woolwich customers seem to be able to access their accounts online at Barclays...most puzzling?

I'm afraid I've also got an ongoing battle with Barclays over this problem. Unless I want to hang on the phone for up to an hour to get a mortgage balance, they say they will only send it to me once a year. They have no plans for allowing Woolwich customers online access to their mortgage balances. Grrrr.0

I don't understand as we can see ours
It's an old Open Plan style Woolwich mortgage.

If you could tell me a way I'd love you forever - as would my phone bill!! I think it may have something to do with the fact that mine wasn't an offset one but just standard interest only.0 -
Well, have informed TG of my balance - I am under £110k when I take into account the offset!
So, have updated my mortgage motivator and I am nearly at the top of the bay window!
Looking forward to seeing everyone's updates. Ange xThanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Thanks Kaz. We love it.
It is a big house - 7 bedrooms. I sold my 3 bedroomed house in London and bought on the coast 6 years ago - best decision ever. My parents live with me also, not just me and OH and hopefully someday we will have kids to fill it too!
Not quite a river at the end of the garden, the rear of the house overlooks the sea! It does have a walled garden with quite a few trees including fruit trees, we got rid of the grass and landscaped as it had quite a slope when we first moved in which made it hard to mow, so there is a large semi circular patio outside the conservatory and a circular patio a couple of steps down for bbqs and of course, I have my veggie garden at the end - so you are almost right!
I love my house. I know they say you shouldn't get too attached to bricks and mortar, but what can you do??:D I could never have dreamed of living in a house like this in London - being by the sea is a great option healthwise too. Hopefully it will be our forever house until it gets too big to live in.
It will be even better when I have paid off the mortgage though;)Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
