Damn! Work phoned right in the middle of it so I was obliged to turn the sound off the TV! Did anyone see it? The only bit I caught was that as loans may be more difficult to get in 12 months time, make sure you have good savings in place to for major purchases.

Thanks Desperate Housewife - I'll give the 'watch again' option a go. I tried the BBC iplayer a couple of nights ago, and it took 7 hours to download an episode of Ashes to Ashes. Can't see that system catching on if that's the service standard!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

7 hours! Blimey.
More payments from me next week. Looking forward to paying even more off. I've another water free month so can pay more off that way too.
I'm on the grocery challenge too so really trying to get value for money and empty out my store cupboards a bit. This will in turn help with a bit of decluttering.
We still haven't finished our front room but hope to make some progress over easter. We may pull a late one on Thursday night and see how much we can get done in here. If we can cement in the new hearth we will be able to fit the fireplace on Monday. Hopefully finish off the papering and get the furniture back in. Then we start on the next room and want it done before my birthday (29/04!) so we can have a barbecue.
I have that week off so might get DH to take the week off too then we can really get motoring!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
1 million is unbelievable! well done everyone!
I'm not earning much at the mo (temp worker) so things are a bit slow for me but I did put some money away when times were good so I'm not falling behind. Also things look like they will pick up shortly so I'm hoping to bang big amounts into mine.
I've got my stoozepot sorted now so I don't think I'll be paying any interest for the next year which will help me pay more off the capital.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Wow - I can hear the MFIT personal barriers tumbling right across the country - sub £200K, sub £160K, sub £100K and as a collective - £1m in overpayments. The 1 year on update in April should be great!2009 CLEAR MORTGAGE:starmod: (17/2/09) LIVE ON 4K Q1:staradmin(£5,405) SAVE 30K (£9.500)0

The shares were from an employee share-save scheme which ended. I put in £9k and they are worth £18k ATM (£9k profit - probably a bit less ATM due to the market). As I understand it I only pay CGT if it's over approx £10k profit?0 -
I've had a look round the forums trying to find inspiration for the mfi3 journey and the latest idea is to pay off the council tax with a 0% on purchases credit card. I am not able to do this but thought I'd suggest it for those who can. I know egg are doing a 0% for 14 months on purchases (I think.. double check) It would effectively mean you are postponing the bill for over a year, handy if you want to keep hold of the money in a cash isa.
I thought about paying it by my credit card and get the moneyback but it doesn't work out for me. Maybe next year when I've got a bit more cash?!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Cupid-S
I've been reading up on how to do presentations for work (so I can be promoted from within the company) and the best advice I found that has worked for giving a presentation is the Rule of Three. People can't remember more than three things, so have your welcome, summary of three things, talk at length about the three things, then summarize and ask for any questions. Use pictures instead of words too, to help make you memorable. Be confident even though you're really feeling like running away.
My boss has given me the short notice presentations to practice on him with and it's really helped knowing the structure I'm going to use beforehand, it helps me to concentrate on the topic in hand instead of wondering what goes where.
Good Luck- hope you get the job- £1500 of overpayments - Wow!! Well worth jumping through all the hoops for!:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
