Believe it or not I have been crying:eek: - with total frustration. On the 19th Nov I spent hours doing a large amout of my christmas shopping online at
M & S. 17 items total £153 (including £10 discount on order and free postage :money:This is MSE afterall).I received one item a few days later. Waited in for 10 DAYS - order never arrived. E mailed them this morning and they said they had STOCK ISSUES and couldn't meet the order and cancelled the lot. GUTTED. I thought I'd done the bulk of my shopping and now I havn't and I'm REALLLLLLLLLLLLLy disappointed and guess waht they offered me as compensation. £15 off my next order - THEY WISH - why would I order from them again.:confused:_pale_:huh::angry:

Oh thats horrible! The waste of time and effort, the prospect of doing it again, the lack of communication and the miserliness, I'm really surprised at M&S - I had a bad experience with a local shop assistant once and wrote to head office about it, who took the usual M&S care with me - will you do something like that when you've recovered?

    Hi Karma,

Thanks for your reply. I have also posted this thread on the "Christmas" board. (I didn't know there was a christmas board until now - seems very interesting too by the way) and have had alot of response about the horrors of online shopping with M & S. I had no idea they were so bad...:xmassign:
  • I don't post often (try to keep my head down), but I just wondered how people were doing with Xmas coming up.

I don't even feel tempted to dip into the offset pot - which has suprised me a bit. OH suggested we could, and we batted it around for a bit. And then we had a clear out of the kids toys at home which was a good remind that we bought WAY too much for them in the past. Also, my extended family is doing Secret Santa - which is a fab idea - so much less stress and hassle and a £35 limit.

I think one of the benefits of the MFi3 thing is that it does shift your thinking to the true value of things rather than looking at something that is expensive as inherently desirable.

I'm still chipping away (paid in £8.70 to offset last week, without any embaressment) and am cashing in a policy that's done terribly badly over the last 12 years (and putting the premiums saved straight into the offset) to keep the momentum going. So many people on here doing so well - its fantastic inspiration!

And still chucking every spare penny into it!

    Hi,

I've just got back from M&S - shopping old-style. Oddly, I found nearly everything I wanted in store except the British Isle Cufflinks - Got 2 MR T bubblebaths and all the clothes I wanted for my nieces. It was easier to do cos I'd already picked it out on line. In fact I SAVED £5 on my sons PJs and got better ones. AND guess what? - when I got home I realised the cashier hadn't charged for an item worth £13! Do you think that's justice or theft?

Not cheeky at all. My wife and I cashed in a couple of poorly performing policies that we were sold about 10 years ago when wet behind the ears financially. That was about 8.5 k. I reckon I have saved another £1000 by changing suppliers and cutting out unneccesary things on Direct Debits. The rest is just hard work - I have done some consultancy jobs during annual leave time from work.

And every time I pass a branch of the Coventry (there is one near where I work), I pay whatever I have in my pocket into the offset (so far maximum £30, minimum, 3.25).

LOL, brilliant! Your BS must love it when you turn up. Keep that up and they'll lock the doors and pull down the blinds when they see you walking toward them. :rotfl:
