Just an update, I managed to uninstall and re install mcafee, to be honest I don't find it hogs the machine or requires user input as I did with AVG and Avast, but things may have changed on those too, as I remember Nortons being a resource hogger. Was telling a guy at work at which point he reminded me that Virgin Media offers AV software as part of the subscription (Kaspersky I beleive?)

Norton is a resource hog, yes, but in recent years it actually does very well at stopping viruses. Kaspersky usually scores pretty highly on protection and doesn't hog too much.

    NOD32 usually does best though.

I'd still rather go with NOD32 though,

I was wondering - could you recommend an AV prog for me please? ;)

I've used McAfee for a while now. I don't have to do anything, just pay the renewal and the account just carries on. Phone them for a deal. I paid £97.50 for a four user licence lasting for 3 years on Total Protection. It works for me so happy enough with it:)

They will drop the price quite readily (as I discovered ) which prompted me to look around, I paid just under £7 for a 3 machine licence :j
