  • The only way would be if you are with BT and other people near by are allowing access to BT open zone through their connections (BTFon I think it is called)

You could always opt for a PAYG data dongle. As above, if you have a BT internet account, you can use Openzone if it is available and active in the area.

Others online will more likely be using their own accounts, which should be password protected to stop outsiders gaining access to it.

Only where you can actually get a 3G signal.
A dongle is available on a monthly contract or on PAYG, there is no fixed price.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

If there is O2 WiFi, it's free.

If there is BT Openzone(not BTOpenzone-H) and the signal is strong, you can consider getting an O2 Dongle.
The one month option for £10.32 will get you three months of WiFi access from the first usage, plus the 1GB of data via the Dongle.

If more than one WiFi enabled phone/laptop is to be used, consider their Pocket Hotspot in conjunction with BTOpenzone/O2 WiFi.

    £25 Cashback available

Either item can be unlocked for use with other network's SIM cards, but you will lose the option to use BTOpenzone if you are not using an O2 SIM.
