am i eligible to cancel my new contract with orange

Hi - arranged over the phone to have my wanadoo internet package (which ive had for 2 years) changed. I was paying £23 per month and 6 gig d/l limit

I was offered £14.99 + unlimited d/l @ 2meg speed however i went for £18.99
with unlimited d/l free wkend + evening calls + 8 meg speed.
I first spoke to bt who did a check on the local exchange and said i can have speeds up to 8meg so last week i went ahed and agreed over the phone to a 1 year contract for the above
I got the modem last week and the line has just come on today so its all working.

the thing is it doesent seem the slightest bit faster than when i had 2meg - not even noticably one little bit!
in fact ive done a test of my own - it says my download speed is 1.76 mb ps + upload speed is 384 kb ps. all i want to do now is change to the 14.99 deal cos its clear that im not getting anywhere near what im paying for

No grounds to cancel as you are getting the service as described - "up to 8meg".

If it has only started working today, what about the ten day line training period to establish the maximum speed that your line can work at? Check your speed over the next two weeks before wingeing.
