was thinking of possibly making a yule log too. Did you see the one mary berry made on the great british bake off christmas show this week? looked fab.
Do you really need a special tin for the cake?

I have only seen the Nigella recipe which looks nice and says to use a shallow rectangular baking tin for the cake part!

  • :xmastree::rudolf:Christmas eve we meet up with our oldest freinds and thier children. Go to the for a walk on the beach ,through stones in the sea, visit the Penny arade then chinese for tea, love it every year, even my eldest son who is 18 still wants to come with us. No stress on presents no cooking perfect.:rudolf::xmastree:
  • After my previous post about it being my sons 16th birthday I have just booked VIP seats for us to see the Hobbit at our local Vue cinema (1 hour away) and then back home for a Indian :j.

  • Long lie in with a cuppa
Last minute shopping for anything I've forgotten
Take the kids swimming in a futile attempt to tire them out
    FIL arrives in the afternoon
Make name tags for the stockings
Family dinner (Chinese takeaway) than card/board games until bed time
Put out stockings by the fireplace (with the home made name tags)
Once kids are ensconced in their rooms, tiptoe around to fill stockings

This year may be the one when youngest DS finally reconciles himself about Father Christmas (he found out the truth last year but refused to believe it!). If so, I wont need to eat the carrot for Rudolph :D

Its my D/S birthday on Christmas eve so we always do something nice, pictures, bowling, meal out etc, it also stops me from rushing around trying to do last minute things because i am always ready for Christmas by the 23rd. :-) He is 16 this year and is just as excited about his birthday as he has ever been. We always celebrate it separate and he never ever gets a joint Christmas/birthday present.

Its my eldests birthday on Christmas eve too. He's going to be 18 this year (gulp).

We usually have an open house for people to pop in early afternoon and we have some nibbles and drinks out but this year we'll be going out with family to a local pub for an hour or two as he wants to buy his dad a beer. (He's very fresh faced and still gets id'd at the pics and when he wanted to buy lottery tickets lol poor soul)

So a couple of drinks early on then off for a meal and home early for snuggles in front of the tv before santa comes.

I always made a point in keeping his birthday and Christmes seperate too.

Happy 16th Birthday to your son minimacka x

I make a hamper of goodies for Xmas Eve and it is filled with things to keep us entertained during the day and evening. Usually it includes:

    • Pjs
    • Sweeties
    • A movie
    • Hot chocolate
    • Crafty items
We tend to spend the day in our PJs relaxing and spending quality time together which is always lovely :D
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • I spend Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing day at my parents.
If i am not working Christmas Eve then my Mum. my sister and I generally bake a cake or somesort. This year my sister and i are both working so we are making the cake on Sunday.

Christmas Eve my Dad will pick my Nan up who comes to stay for the festivities. It has been tradition for the last 15 years or so to go out for dinner at the local Chinese.

After dinner my Mum and Dad (and some years myself) will generally go to the pub.

I'm working until 1pm, so my OH has said that he and the kids will tidy the house - result!

I'll come in from work, and half make a lemon meringue pie, set the table for christmas dinner, and prep the veg. Will go and see an earlish film at the cinema, and then come home with a Chinese takeaway - presents all wrapped and cards written, so I intend to enjoy Christmas eve in front of the telly with a glass of wine, this year instead of being a headless chicken!

This is our tradition, and is a real family time for us.
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000
  • Will spend the day having a general tidy up and the afternoon doing veg and dessert prep, anything to make the big day easier!
Hubby is a dairy farmer so when he eventually comes in after milking Dinner will be our traditional ham with parsley sauce. Followed by eating copious amounts of chocs in front of the log fire, watching Christmas eve TV in our new Christmas eve PJs! Can't wait!!!
