How do you spend Christmas Eve

There's only me my OH and the cats so we will probably enjoy as much of a lie in as the furbabies will allow and then have some nice pastries and proper cafetiere coffee in bed.
We'll have a lazy and indulgent kind of day and then early eve we'll both do things like prep the veg, make the piggies in blankets and any other prep we can do. We then normally share a bath and a bottle of wine and tootle up to bed.
I still find Christmas really magical so really love all the prep for it even if it's just us two!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0 -
I shall be working till midday but then i shall go home and open my birthday cards....0

Just be me and the kids for the biggest part of Christmas Eve as OH is on back/night shift which means he'll be sleeping until at least lunch time then will leave for work again around 3pm ish. He wont get back until maybe 3am unless they take pity on him and give him a short shift since it's Xmas Eve and everyone wants to lock up early and go home, lol.
I'll be preparing all the veg and other bits for Xmas dinner then I expect me and the kids will be on the couch watching Xmas movies and eating 'dippy' bits (finger type foods).
I really dont want to have to go out on Xmas Eve so whatever I will have forgotten to buy, stays forgotten.

Then we sing Jingle Bells louder and louder until Father Christmas arrives magically through the chapel door with sweeties for all the kids. We live in the square and have no choice but to join in as the road is closed so that the band can march up from school and the square is choc full of people. It's amazing and always brings a few tears to my eyes.
That sounds a lovely evening. I wish we had something like that to go to.

I'll be doing some of the Christmas dinner in advance (soup, part of puddings, beef).
Then in the evening DH and I sit around in new pjs, with the fire on, watching films and eating nibbles. That's what my family did when I was a kid. Usually a bottle of wine gets opened too.:beer:0 -
well, I'm working till 2pm but the hubby is at home, so hopefully he will be doing the last minute supermarket dash.
Its first Christmas in our new house and we're having all the family over for Christmas day. So we'll do any prep for lunch and finish of the hampers I've made some of the family (cook the ginger bread and shortbread).
Then hopefully have a relaxing afternoon before the in laws arrive.
Luckily my mum has offered to cook us all dinner, so we'll be off round there followed by a few drinks at our local. Will be lovely to see some old school friends!

We are celebrating Christmas Day at my in-laws this year so I won't have much prep to do on Christmas Eve.
I have all my step family coming over for a buffet style lunch, then the afternoon will be spent baking Christmas presents for the grandparents, plus making stuffing and a pudding(possibly a yule log) to take over the the in-laws on the big day.
In the evening we will have a treat dinner of homemade pasta with scallops(if it all goes right!) and then settle down for the now ritual watching of Love Actually!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -

was thinking of possibly making a yule log too. Did you see the one mary berry made on the great british bake off christmas show this week? looked fab.
Do you really need a special tin for the cake?

Shops in the morning to buy essentials for Xmas day, afternoon/early evening watching xmas dvd's with the kids. Cook the traditional gammon joint for tea. Leave the carrot, mince pie and milk out for santa then its bath and bed for the kids. Then its usually me and the OH getting all the kids presents out, setting them up ect.. Prepare the vedge for xmas dinner then chill out and watch tv, xmas dvds and stuff my face with chocolate or other xmas goods
