Okay, that's a little harsh, maybe just annoying.

Went to see a film earlier today, quiet showing, not many people about. Ah good, no issues.

Just as the film is about to start, an oldish man with a backpack and several bags comes into the cinema, sits down near me and proceeds to fidget and root around with wrappers for about ten minutes! Aragh! I moved to the other side of the cinema but alas I could still hear him fidget away.

Where do these people come from?! Has anyone else experienced this?

Toward the end of the film, he dropped something and decided to leave a few minutes before the film ended.

I think I'll stick to going to the cinema at "regular times" to avoid the oddballs (I wonder what he was thinking of me?)

'Other people' and the 'general public' are always best avoided. The fact is many people are ignorant and annoying by default and there is nothing any of us can do to stop that. I suggest saving up and setting up a home cinema. It's the only way nowadays.

This is why I don't like going to cinemas - I am quite sensitive to the noise others make (not to mention the ridiculous price of tickets these days) - so for me it's just not worth it.

Same here. I went to the cinema earlier today and no sooner had I put down my backpack and bags than this bloke near to me starts staring at me, then getting up and walking round the cinema. He kept eyeing me throughout the film and I was so nervous I dropped my popcorn and left before the end.

You clearly read all the way to the end of my post didn't you? ;)

(I've read enough forum posts to know when to expect the devil's advocate!)

Hang on, what happened to the bit about playing with wrappers?

    :rotfl:

    God bless the general public.
  • Haha at the reply!
I get annoyed too. Especially when people check their phones. In a dark room, they're like a beacon!
Can people really not go for 2 hours without checking Facebook/texts?

This is why I sit at the back of the cinema, so we can see over everything and not get too disturbed. I've also got a habit of taking my kids a few weeks after something's come out, which tends to stop things like this happening.

  • Agreed, I get far too annoyed in the cinema. Last night – couple sat next to me with a bag full of sweets in wrappers, chomping and rustling away. The bloke seemed to be unable to get through a couple of hours without texting someone. And most annoying of all, the girl seemed to be unable to follow the storyline so the guy had to explain (with emphatic hand gestures) what was going on.

It was my fault, I know how annoyed I get at this stuff but still went to see the Hobbit in its first week. My brain seemed to conveniently forget how terrible an experience it can be, and how I vowed never to go again when it would be busy!
  • I used to go a lot during the day when there was hardly anyone in, but I could guarentee wherever I sat, if someone else came in after me they would sit in the seat directly behind me. Every time. Why? I never found out and now I don't go any more.

Last time I considered going to the cinema was for that Avengers film, however when I checked out the times etc it was two showings for non-3D and almost every 30 mins for 3D, where you have to look like a plonker wearing glasses (which looks really stylish if you already wear glasses...) which you gotta buy for an extra tenner at my local, at least !!!!!! Turpin wore a ruddy mask!

Hence haven't been to the cinema in years, I got fed up with the sticky floors, uncomfortable seats, overpriced snacks, group of giggling teenages throwing popcorn, people on their phones and the overpriced ticket charges for the pleasure of enduring all of the above.

Now I'm happy to wait a few months and pay £3 when it comes out on dvd in the supermarkets and watch it from the leisure of my own home.
