Here it is. It was very easy to make. The consistency is a bit thinner than that of a normal yoghurt but it tastes like a very good quality probiotic yoghurt. So far we've tried it with some honey and also mixed with some leftover homemade cranberry sauce from Xmas. Seriously, don't laugh, btw this one was delicious!

Sounds great and so easy to make. Will have to work on the weights as dont have a cup measure but I cannot wait!!
  • so today i have decluttered wardrobes and found stuff to e- bay
made a meal out of bits in fridge like a cheese tortilla with cooked potatoe and a bit of chorizo sausage, not spent any money, put up tie backs that we bought and hadnt got around to using. turned old bread into breadcrumbs and put in freezer for another day. not used the car all day. also not had heating on

hopefully all adds up to help in the long run.
You can if you think you can .
  • Had awesome day here - morning eating, tidying and chilling 10.30 walked Into town (45mins) then played at the big park and ate picnic(cheese, crackers, crisps, apple) then walked home and got back at 1pm. Walk back took longer as uphill!!! We all had great free fun and it was lovely weather :)

Heating been on all day but needed as type of property and also doesn't cost :) dinner of pasta and hm sauce with cheese to replace the energy we burnt walking (not that I need it but certainly made me hungry!) also managed to wash few clothes but washing machine now broken (pump not working) and need to find a solution to this not involving a new one...... Working on it ;)
DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts :) Just to see which month :))))

I am going to try out the local college for pampering buts like facials and massage and possibly hair cuts. Anyone else done this?

    Hi allie23,
At least you won't have to worry about reliability with a newer car - when my kids were little and getting the kids to school invoved a 30 odd mile round trip, I got to know many of the RAC breakdown guys very well!!! as my unreliable, old knackered Astra spent more time off the road than on! When I started work at the local FE College a wondeful money-saving world opened up for me.
    - Cheap car repairs.
    - Catering for events (the students get the chance to practice some pretty high class food) - less than a third of the price charged by outside Caterers.
    - Hair cuts and colour £12 for foils and a cut!
    - Beauty treatments such as pedicure £8
The only drawback is that as the students are learning, treatments can take ages so no point in going if you are on a timetable. Try and book yourself in for a Level 3 class as these have a good amount of experience already.

    Good luck x

Argh! Im so annoyed... trying to budget our food shopping and eat from the cupboards and freezer this month. OH is meant to be on board with this... sent him out for bread and milk and he spends £9!! He comes back with bread and milk but also 4 malt loaves and a tiramisu. The tiramisu was £3 on its own... a treat for me apparently, but we have a whole cupboard of xmas treats still. Note to self... take baby and get bread and milk myself in future!

Oh, forgot to mention. Quintwins recommended using a small pot of yeo yoghurt, £0.50 one. So 2 litres of milk and a pot of yoghurt is all you need.

I was just about to say that you don't need to measure anything, i use value uht milk, keep a pot of your first patch in the freezer to use for your next patch, then buy another 50p pot if you keep going savings apatch it's suppose to get thinner, but you get LOADS of yogurt and it's very nice, i add honey when it's cooking as my hubby thinks it's abit tart, then i store it in old jam jars, i've been picking up reduced yogurts lately i'm going to have to start making this again :)

Thanks skintwellie. I have been onto the local FE college website today and downloaded their prices for facials, haircuts etc. They also have a training restaurant that does evening meals once a week on a Thursday at £15 for 4 courses. Some really good stuff on the menus too. Will defo be giving this a try.
  • Our local college does this too,and I went a couple of years ago. The meal was excellent, the only thing that made me laugh was the waiter tipped all of our tables dirty cutlery and some of the food off the top plate right down my back, and he didn't even say sorry. I wasn't bothered though, it's what happens when you're learning. The food, and the place was excellent - definitely worth going, I would recommend it especially if you want to treat others to a meal-out on a budget.

In terms of frugalling for today, sorted out the garage and got some things ready for car-booting, also sent dds shopping for their school trousers and shoes and they came back with £15 change, so dead chuffed. Nothing much else happening here, just really not looking forward to going back to work on Monday, although feel bad as really I should just be grateful that I have a job. Have a great evening everyone.
