How about music in some form (CD or MP3) , or a course in a craft you're interested in? DVDs of the sort of film you and no one else in the family would enjoy?

    Suggested already :rotfl:

CD = I bought you every Westlife CD there is and you dont listen to them (the CD player needs a fuse and he keeps telling me he'll get the spare fuses 'soon')

DVD's = But we have sky! what do you need a DVD for?

Craft courses would be nice but im not well enough to actually do any :(

  • Oh he sounds very frustrating lol!

Craft wise - what sort of things do you do? If its paper crafts do you have a big shot or cuttlebug/cricut or the likes? Is that something you'd be interested in?

I'd push for the hair straighteners, IMO they are a luxury item, I couldn't be without mine though!

Could you not say your new 'hobby' is hair styling? Lol.
  • I wouls throttle him if he were mine but.....could you buy him a pack of fuses for his Christmas stocking so he can fix the cd player? ;)

Im a jewellery crafter, though I do already have a big shot pro :D I suggested dies as I really really want a die for a small box and did point him in the direction of hobbycraft, his main problem is he is very black and white in his thinking and because I made some boxes by hand that I put chocolates in for our tree he now thinks thats the only style of box that will do and that would need to be 'specially made'. Most of the dies are online as well so hes left it late to order one and get it delivered (he never changes :D)

Love the idea of hair styling being my new hobby though im actually getting my hopes up as he shouted though 'whats the name of them straightners your mate was going on about?' (she just got GHD's) Im not that posh though, im quite happy with a cheaper pair as long as the blades are straight not curved :D *crosses fingers*

    Bless him, gotta love him

:rotfl::rotfl: I might actually do that as I love the idea so much, though he'd probably be thrilled with them, he loves DIY :rotfl::rotfl:

I'd be telling him not to bother then. Surely if you want hair straighteners/kitchen stuff then that would make the perfect present?

Sorry to be flippant ...but if you pull your hair out as the title suggests you won't need any hair straighteners anyway!

I don't suppose you could ask for a Boots/ Argos token...and then you would be able to choose exactly what YOU want??

  • he said 'yes but if I had picked them they would have been much bigger and blingier as whats the point of having them if you cant see them'

:rotfl:I can see why it might not be such a good idea if he chooses jewellery for you!

This is so strange I have to say!!

Me and OH have every single penny as "joint" i.e. all in same account etc, but we still budget for presents of whatever we want! If it's something that's just a bit outside what we'd normally spend our "entertainment" money on, that's fine, e.g. a West End show or expensive concert. Or equally if it's nicer clothes than I'd normally buy myself (e.g. I shop at New Look, he buys me a Fat Face/White stuff jumper) that's fine too.

Why don't you try and sell it to him that way? If you've wanted the straighteners for 2 years you clearly can't afford them from your house budget so they are very much a treat!!

As a side point, there is no way my OH would ever consider straighteners, clothes etc as "house stuff" lol he already gets annoyed with me spending too much on them!!

    Debt-free and Proud!
I see his point of view to some extent but if his idea of a pressie is "something just for you" I reckon you can get him on a technicality (is that the word?) by saying "The hair straightners/electric knife would only be used by me":D

Also do you buy the children new clothes as xmas pressies? Santa always brought us new pjs and a party outfit. If so, no reason Santa can't bring you new clothes.;)

Finally, when he opens his blu-ray player, swipe it off him and say you've just realised you can't gift him this as it's a "house gift" you'll ALL use :rotfl:

It's sweet though that he wants to buy something special just for you x
