:xmastree:Additional Insurance needed for Christmas!!!!
I have car insurance with the Post Office, underwritten by Chaucer Insurance.
A relative, a UK citizen, is visiting from abroad at Christmas, but the Post Office says they will not add someone as a temporary driver who is living abroad!
Anyone got a similar experience or know what to do? Or advice on who will insure?

Which country are they from? (or more importantly, what country is their driving license from)0

They have had a UK driving license for over 20 years!0

Get temporary insurance elsewhere or cancel the whole policy and go with a company that will cover them.
Either way it maybe costly. You cannot force them to add this person.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks for advice. Any idea where to get temporary insurance?0

Hey!,
:j
I got temporary insurance on time for Christmas, too. The RAC does it under their "day insurance" link for up to a month. And the price is reasonable.:) Will certainly consider the RAC next time for my annual car insurance!0 -

Might be cheaper simply to hire another car!0 -
yep, although it is ridiculous that hiring a car complete with insurance is cheaper than just adding a temp driver to your own insurance0

they could have a licence in whatever country they live in as well as having a UK one.
If they live in the EU then the UK licence is valid and no additional licence is needed0
