Worth moving to PAYG because of low usage?
I'm currently with Vodafone, paying £25.55/month including VAT. My plan includes 500 minutes of calls, unlimited texts and 500MB data calls. I've just averaged my usage over the past 5 months and per month it comes to 3 brief calls of 30 seconds each to UK landlines, 3 texts and 28MB data. Is it worth me coming off contract and moving to PAYG? I'd actually be dropping the data as I have no real need to check Facebook on my phone, I don't get emails on it, and only really use it to exchange the odd text or call work if the train is late. Not interested in upgrading phones or anything like that. Going by Vodafone's PAYG charges, it seems I'd spend £4-5 per month so it seems like a no-brainer, but I just want to check I'm not being stupid and misunderstanding anything.

Is it a rhetoric question? Any person with a bit of common sense will tell you that paying £25.50 for 2 minutes and 3 text is far-far too much. If you are out of your minimum term it is beyond me why you have not switched yet.I'm currently with Vodafone, paying £25.55/month including VAT. It's worth saying that there are much better options for PAYG than Vodafone, but for 2 minutes and 3 texts it will not make any noticeable difference. Also 100m+100t+300Mb p.m. are available for free on Ovivo (that, BTW, use Vodafone signal).0

No it was a serious question I'm not sure if I'm out of my contract or not; Vodafone's page says I can change my call plan, but I wouldn't be allowed to upgrade my phone until May next year, so I'm not sure if that means I'm tied into a contract (have a feeling I may have signed up for 24 months in May 2011) or whether the upgrade is independent. If you can get out of the contract (outside the min term), then cancel ASAP.0

I would def say pay and go, for that small useage, go onto pay and go, I am on the 02 extra package and for £10 month I get 500 text, 100mb, 75mins calls, and after 3 mths that gets doubled, - but if your not bothered about the net side and just need the phone for emergency use then grab a pay and go and just top up as and when xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Grab a PAYG and go for someone like Asda Mobile.0

Have a look at https://www.ovivomobile.com should be ideal for your sort of use and very cheap to run. Will fit your phone as it runs over Vodafone and will cost you just £10 to set up at that's it, and you get to keep the £10 quid.0
