Given incorrect details by sky advisor twice!

Options
Due to a change in circumstances I cancelled sky tv, telephone and broadband.

i phoned up one one occasion and asked a sky agent how I go about cancelling my sky fibre broadband and sky talk and was told if I was planning to go back to BT then they could just take over the liken and they would notify sky when it was done.
i specifically asked if I was still in contract with my line rental or my broadband and I was told I wasn't.

i then called up again to double check this and was told again that im not in contract.

i ordered bt and have had it installed and I have gone to check my sky bill and can see that I'm still being charged for my broadband.
i phoned up to query this and am now being told by sky that I'm still in a contract, I explained to them that I called up twice to check but they are not budginsand telling me if I wish to cancel then I will have to pay around £200

i feel really let down by sky that I was given incorrect information twice, and don't know where to go from here.

i was told I could write to them to complain ( they seem to make it awkward as possible by having no email address) which I will be doing.

where do I stand with this contract?

When did you get your fibre b/band connection from Sky? AFAIA they start a new 12 month contract when it's installed EVEN IF you are already a b/band customer beyond your previous minimum term.

    brewerdave is correct.

However, if you are adamant that you were told this twice, ask for the tapes of the calls as per your rights under the Data Protection Act - they claim to record ALL calls after all.

  • I got fibre broadband in June 2012, I don't think they have an issue with them confirming that I wasn't in contract as they looked back through notes on the system.
It's just that they won't budge now I have switched suppliers.
