Kenwood Chef

Following some advice on here given a few months ago when my trusty food processor died, I've finally got round to buying a Kenwood Chef, which is being delivered on Thursday. Feeling irrationally excited about this. :j
Does anyone have some good recipies, I can use to christen it properly? I know it comes with a recipie book, and that I can use it to make all the stuff I usually make in other ways, but feel the need for something a bit different to justify spending £130!

Mashed potato! That's what I'm going to make with my new one. Well, it's new to me... got it from ebay, collection in person yesterday, so didn't have to fork out for postage. So now I'm going to make some REAL mashed potato! Then I'm going to get a douhg hook so I can bake some bread, pizza dough, breadsticks, dough balls. Then I'm going to throw my entire family's healthy eating theme out the window and spend a few days in the kitchen just baking cakes!!!!! LOL
And there's nothing wrong with getting excited over a Kenwood Chef... However, my DH gave me rather odd looks when I started hugging mine when he brought it home....0 -
I think the best thing about my Kenwood chef is not so much using it for different recipes as using it to make big convenient batches .
I got it out today and made up a large batch of crumble mix to keep in a plastic box in the fridge, a 2lb block of pastry (did 6 mince pies then left the rest wrapped in the fridge),a fruit cake and a sponge pudding.(I usually do a sponge sandwhich or chocolate cake as well but I ran out of cooking fat!)
I will have home baked stuff easily available for a week or so without all the disruption.(I have a tiny kitchen).
Hope that's not too boring!0 -
Hi Nicki,
If you look in The Complete Kenwood Chef Collection there are a few threads on Kenwood recipes.

I think I've just caught a lucky bug or something like that! Great hubby, great sons (3 of them) and bigger kitchen than any of my in-laws, and now i've just completed it with a bargain on my K-Chef! He now sits in the kitchen just waiting to be used, and used, and used, and used....0

WOOHOO! Just made my mashed potato, and my 6-year old tasted it (quite a fussy eater!) and said "yummy! this is the best mash potato I've ever had!" How cool is that!
janeawej: Have you got home contents insurance? My tumble dryer started smoking, and my insurance company replaced that! Get it into your kitchen, see if it still smokes, and give them a ring. They might be able to do something for you!0 -

Sorry, didn't read your post properly... Note to self: must READ, not just skim...
Try ebay for a bowl too. Or there is an online shop that does replacement parts for chefs and majors... think it's called 4kenwood. Try there! Think a kenlyte bowl for mine was about £22 brand new. Not too bad I thought. But my bowl is ok, so I'm just saving up for the mincer attachment so I can make sausages to go with the mash...0 -
It arrived today at 2.00. By the time the kids came home from school, I'd made two wholemeal loaves from a great recipie posted on one of the Kenwood threads Pink sent me to, and a batch of chocolate caramel shortbread, and was having to be restrained from also knocking up a cake (we'd never get through so much baked goods before they spoil so will have to defer this until next week). Now debating what I can make for tonight's tea so I can try it out on some mashed potatoes, though I'm also I must see feeling enticed by what looked like a very nice recipie for vegetable samosas which came in the recipie book with it.
Can't believe how much easier it is to use than my little food processor was - especially for the bread, where half this quantity of ingredients would have sent the machine skidding off the worktop and overheated the motor!0 -
I love my Kenwood Chef. I have most of the attachmentsas well, so if you want any advice onb what they are like just ask.
I make sausages with my mincer...pork, herbs and spices,no rusk etc
and mince of course
The colander and sieve makes a wicked summer fruits puree, which I then leave in the fridge and its used for milkshakes or a fruit sauce on top of yogurt
I make my own butter, not bought any from the shops now since beginning of March
Cream Maker..ideal if the shops run out of cream or you want the pleasure of just making your own, or you don't have time to nip to the shops
Juicer...well ermmmm still trying to master this one ..long story
Slicer and Shredder..is amazing!!!! So fast!!!! I make my own coleslaw
Metal bowl is great for pastry etc., I prefer this bowl over all the others
Can opener...ok got this because I have had operations on my wrists and get the odd time when I can't use a normnal hand held
Potato peeler...superb for new potatoes...makes them look that perfect that they came out of a tin, also use this for carrots if I am doing a large quantity of them for soups etc
Pasta Maker, is again something I need to master, although I have done some pasta in it, took ages and still never got hang of it...yet but I will as I have not had this long.
I got all the attachments from Ebay, and for them all I think it came to about £100 plus the postage.0
