 Hi guys, hopefully someone can shed some light here....
We bought DS a Toshiba Laptop last September. Last week, whilst he was watching something on youtube, it died
Screen went blank and wouldn't turn back on.
We thought it may have been the battery so tried charging it, nothing.
We then changed the fuse in the charger plug, nothing.
Completely dead. No sound to say its booting up, no lights to say it's charging. Nothing.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Being just over a year old i would doubt it is the laptop battery.

If you're getting absolutely nothing then the first thing to confirm is that it isn't the AC adapter. You can measure its output with a voltmeter.
If that's OK, then it's likely that there's a power problem on the motherboard.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -

Google the issue. If you find that loads of people with the same model are having the same issues, then you have a good case to get Curry/PCWorld to fix it for free. I believe you have a window of 6 years in which to get a fix, replacement or partial refund for issues that are inherant (according to a chap from TS on BBC Essex a while back).Never Knowingly Understood.

See if you can try another power supply on it. Is it the fuse? Having tried another power supply or had the existing one confirmed as working, its then a lappy issue. How much did you pay for it? It has the potential to be a SOGA issue but a case needs to be built.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Exactly the same issue with THE first tablet laptop many years ago. 1 year and 2 days after it was purchased it died a sudden death. Yes, the warranty was 12 months.....
Turns out thousands of users has the same issue with it dying just after the 12 month period so in my case it was either a very unlikely coincidence or a plan to ensure all HP users buy a new one 12 months later.
Google your model and I bet you will find others in the same boat...0 -
Johnnyboyrebel, your tablet PC wasn't a HP TM2 by any chance was it?.0

I think i might take it to see their knowhow team and just pay to get it fixed. Is this the best way?DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0
