Looking to migrate to another TV provider (if any)- best choices?

Options
We're currently paying:

Phone - £14.60 (rising to 15.45 in Jan)

TV - £5.70 on BT Vision

Broadband - £24.70 per month on 8mb BT (and it's not even inifinity!!!)

What are the cheapest services, according to our usage?

We are not contracted to any of the services except for the phone (until 31st December) so all can be cancelled pretty quickly. Also, we don't use the phone at all, and it only exists for the purposes of having internet.

BT have quoted us a reduction on the broadband to £18 per month (that will be infinity) or £10.65 per month with 40GB usage (but still 8mb).

I'm thinking of getting rid of BT Vision because our new TV has freeview inbuilt, and I can't see any point of having Vision to provide us with an unused pause/record facility.

This being said, with a laptop hooked up to our TV, we don't actually care about having a new TV provider as we can watch all the same stuff through a range of means. However, if say, we could get Sky at a decent price, then we'd consider.

    Hi, Gray-Fox.

You have double posted on two boards. This is not necessary. And I've replied on the internet board on your other post.

It is necessary because there are three strands of my question that pertain to each board. I want to know the cheapest internet, home phone AND tv.

Why I did this should be pretty obvious.
  • As you say a recordable box is unused then id say freeview is your cheapest as its free.

As far as internet goes you didnt state how much you use it and what for. These answers would effect what package to go for.

If you are a heavy user then look for unlimited packages. Likewise if speed is important fibre could be the way forward. Without knowing though its hard to suggest what to go for.

The cheapest TV providers areFreeview or Freesat, which (strangely enough) are both free.
Unless you want any subscription channels (which is not indicated in your post) then all you need is one of the the above services and a Humax digibox to provide the PVR functions.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
