for some reason, for the last two years i haven't received a tax reminder letter? luckly i have noticed in time but my mum didn't on hers, she just happened to notice her tax was a few days out of date when cleaning the car!
I just assumed they'd stopped sending out reminders now:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

Well, I've never not received a tax reminder in 20 years of driving and nor has my wife in over 10 years of having her own car. Are you sure you haven't moved house and forgotten to notify DVLA, or bought a car and forgotten to make sure that it's registered in your name?0

The chance of a cop pulling you over and checking your tax is very slim unless you happen to live in londonshire where they have spy cams hidden in the cats eyes!
Not exactly true , I live in South Wales and a nearby valleys A road often has an ANPR van parked up on the side of it along with a team of traffic police to pull offenders over.0 -
That's a good one  , only thing I would change is spy cam in RATS eyes in the **** hole they call London.
P.s. I know London is multi cultural but over here in the UK we use capital letters for place names.

In answer to the MarkyMarkD's quote "Normal people don't keep cars sitting in their garage for years on end." well they do if they bought the car as a project and are working on repairing it and getting it roadworthy.
For that reason the car has not had a tax disc for years so Keith's comment on "How exactly do you forget to tax your car?" the answer is - quite easily if you aren't driving it on a daily basis and it lives in a locked garage!!!!
Rather than slating people who drive cars without tax can anyone give me a constructive answer to my original question as to whether these charges are lawful for a car that has been nowhere near a public highway in years?
Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
Unfortunatly the reason they are lawful is the circular argument that the law of the land, as passed by parliament, makes them lawful0
